Two weeks ago I seen this at the Pilot in Columbus OH. Tried to get Pilot management to run them off but the y said they don't have security til night time. So I walked over behind the trailers about 40 ft from them. "HEY! I just called the cops".

Yeah those guys are dumb thinking they can get money that way ! The best way to get lots of money is from my uncle, he is a Nigerian prince and will send you millions of $$ if you email him your bank account number ,& social sec. # , and wire a $1000.00 transfer fee !!
DriverToBroker Thanks this. -
There are small gangs that pull this scam that travel around the US, working truck stops, rest areas, and even toll road service plazas.
I used to see the same guy for years, all over the midwest. I recognized him because he used to be an inmate in a correctional facility I worked in. ( he didn't recognize me,until the last time I saw him in Indy, at that nasty pilot, and he pulled a knife on me)
They work in groups of 3-4, and usually one of the 'winners' is a member of the group.
Don't be STUPID.
They will also rob you if you are stupid enough to go behind the trailers, out of sight, to see what they are up to.Lepton1 and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
The home theater scam was pulled at a Flying J not so long back in Texas near a Wal Mart DC in New Caney, TX. Three guys wearing black polos with a home theater company name embroidered on the shirts, in their bosses "Cadillac." It was probably a 2004 SRX with paper plates. Same deal, they circle the parking lots and approach people on the fuel island. IF they brought them back they would be fired or some bs.

had some white van guys roll up on me before I started driving a truck
I immediately told them no and they were trying to pressure me and use pushy sales tactics then they cussed me out because I wouldn't go along with it (I clearly knew it was a scam but I didn't even bother to call them out) -
