New to the forum. Can I get some input?
My headlights go out with at the same as my speedometer as I’m driving. I take the shifter out of gear and they come on for a while and go out again. My voltage meter is high @18 volts. It goes down once I take out the shifter from gear any ideas where to start? Much appreciated.
No head lights , high voltage meter

Tap on the alternator with a hard object like a hammer.
Your alternator have dust buildup.
Or your alternator may be on way out.
Such as voltage regulator, or diodes, or brushes? -
High voltage also kills the cab computer which is why dash dies.
Fix the high voltage and everything else will also be fixed.
Probably a bad alternatorGoodysnap and spsauerland Thank this. -
