Work with anyone that will direct funds directly into your bank account or pay in cash. Do not accept checks of any kind and do not accept PayPal or any credit cards. I've always sold high ticket items on Ebay and Craigslist with no problems this way. If FSBO can get you a customer that will pay in cash or direct wire transfer, then great.

I have used FSBO auctions and the classifieds on several occasions and for several different items such as heavy equipment and farming equipment and was listed about 2 months or so for each item, they sold. I made a little profit on each I did the wire transfer and they paid off the lender for me on my leans I had. They provided the shipping once it was sold and Staci was very helpful and attentive to my situations and worked with me on everything she was timely and professional and got me sold!!!!!

I can confirm what everyone here suspected -- this is a total scam. Or, at least a very poorly run business that will almost certainly take your $500 (or whatever they charge you) and... that's it. The pitch is the same: "We have buyers who want your exact thing... we've just sold it... I already asked if they'd be interested in yours and they said yes..." Then when it doesn't sell, they'll say "but we have this OTHER site, and if you list it for $X, my guy says it'll go in a weekend..." Take it from me -- I fell for it, and I'm here to save you a few hundred bucks. Do not work with these people. They won't sell your stuff, and then will actually yell at you and blame you when it doesn't sell. Terrible people. Terrible business.

If anyone has been scammed by these guys (FSBOauctions.net or sellitnowauctions.com) please file a report with the FTC so they don't keep doing it to others. The FTC will only take action when enough people complain.

Considering how old the original post is, they may not be around anyway
