I can get a 2009 Peterbilt 387 with 13 Eaton and the EGR ISX dirt cheap. I seen nothing but horror stories about EGR though even when the coolant is properly maintained.. Thoughts?
Is any price a good price for a EGR ISX truck?

I like my 2015 2350 ISX, but an 09 at any price would be risky. Do you have any maintenance records on it? I guess if it were cheap enough you could get a year or two out of it without many problems then maybe, first thing i would check to see if the fuel pump has been updated then if you do buy it see about getting this done to it.Diesel Force Comprehensive Maintenance System

It is probably cheap for a reason.
2009 will be an 871 so no high pressure fuel pump.
I suspect its a light spec truck as well, no lockers, light rears.
There is more to a truck then just the motor.spsauerland Thanks this. -

It had diff lock. I decided to pass even though it was clean and from a dealershipLast edited: May 10, 2019

IF it had a new DPF, catalyst and outlet AND was otherwise in good shape, it should be good for a couple years
