I don't know where this was taken, but this is what I remember when I did Carlin runs when I still lived in Reno, check out the power unit, Sterling you don't see those much anymore, short production run, not trying to be the told you so guy, but I knew they pulled pups at one point.

They pulled turnpike doubles here in NY a long time ago. They still have the dollies stripped down and rotting away in their yard.
USMC 3531 Thanks this. -
That's to bad, dollies can literally last forever too, just keep them serviced and maybe rebuild them every so often, I know they probably break down structurally eventually, welds, frame cracks ect, but man dollies can have a long life span.

If that really did happen then that's not cool, I don't know all the legalities that are involved with something like that, but there is a big defining difference between being sick and a out right run refusal, and as much as they are bad mouthed in the industry, I know for a fact that Saia wouldn't even pull something like that, I know because I had to do a sick call that was legitimate and central dispatch said no problem get some rest and get better, nothing ever became of it.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

By all means, Im used to being wrong, Lol. I’m pretty sure the Original Unionized (Red) Company ( Same Company as the new non union Yellow CT) only had 53’ with fiberglass sides, although We pulled any and all of the sister Companies Trailers if needed. Otherwise we peddled freight around Detroit w/ 53’ fiberglass Monon Trailers, axle slid all the way back and welded into place. Really!! Holland I recall didn’t have pups either. I’m probably wrong about that too. LolUSMC 3531 Thanks this.

Oh he got counseled, sorry man, I assumed when you said a incident report that the guy got wrote up that goes in permanent file, Saia does that too actually, as petty as it seems, a properly reported absence is a 1.0 point for us too, we are on a rolling 12 month system though not 6, higher points can be assigned for more severe offenses, for example improperly reported absence is a 1.5 point offense, or a no call no show is a 4.0 point offense, 4 points within a 12 month period will get you a verbal warning, 8 within 12 will be a write up, 10 within 12 is a final warning and 12 well your pretty much done fired! I do agree a point charge for properly reported absence is messed up but what do you do, and yes I recieved 1.0 point for my sick call, but in the big picture to me it's no big deal, now if I had been written up for permanent file for it yeah I would be raising hell and looking for another job.
