If I remember right there was a guy who had a 3zj that just used a marine nozzle and opened the pump up a bit. Ran really good.. I dont think he even bumped the timing much if at all.
Do a search.
I wouldn't change the advance and pump. Just get the right nozzles and open up the stock pump a few turns.
Looking for CAT guru ynot

If you want to run a hot mechanical it shouldn’ have aluminum pistons in it.
Leave it alone until you are ready to inframe and put some good parts in it.Last edited: May 20, 2019

10R1439 is the cylinder pack that should be used, this is a lower compression pack and the matching nozzle is 0R8789.
Oxbow, AArtemtrk and spsauerland Thank this. -

Why would you lose low end?
Those are the nozzles and pistons for a 587hp gen set engine, I would expect HP to be similar is pump is set correctly.
You can advance pump timing a bit.Oxbow, spsauerland and AArtemtrk Thank this. -
Oxbow Thanks this.

Low compression stick with a square port head, they like the lower compression.
Borg Warner 1496 988 0001 for charger if you change all those parts.
If you are not changing hard parts and are just turning screws than the 177148 will be the best fit.AArtemtrk, Oxbow and spsauerland Thank this. -
Oxbow Thanks this.
