Decided to start a new thread on "good" food only. The lesser stops I'll not add here. No Pilot, No TA, No Flyin' Hooks. Just independent little places that I'm searching out for good food. I'm sick and friggin tired of Subway, Wendy's, and the other crap offerings made by the "chain" stores.

In my never ending quest for decent friggin' food I found the following today. Well, I didn't find it. It wasn't lost. I just hadn't tried it since it opened up, but the first offering is this:

The Fillin' Station Cafe - Memphis, IN - I-65 Exit 16 across from Love's. Good food.
Order off the menu or eat the buffet. Either way, good chow. Stuffed myself for $9.29 out the door. And, they have a good size truck lot within 50 feet of the door, so you don't have to park at Love's.

I've noticed that usually when you are on a main strip full of minimalls and grocery stores, there is often a Mom & Pop nestled along these roads. Unfortunately, sometimes you go in and find it's some El Cheapo with El Blando food.

nice little BBQ place across the street from the flyin hook in North Little Rock, truck parking there too (not for lowboys, and better not go more than 0.5 mph in the lot either)

Sounds more like the place across the street in Texarkana.

There is a little place in Vandilla Illinios (don't know about the spelling) exit 63 on I-70 called the Chuck Wagon, It has been there a while but the food is pretty good. The truck parking is limited to about 10 trucks but if you are hungrey it is worth it.

While this may be true, I'd prefer we didn't list anything in the El Cheapo/El Blando arena here. There's plenty of other threads to discuss negative shiznit.

Must be Texarkana. There is not a Hook in LR/NLR area.

You didn't include the first part of my post that mentioned a way to FIND those nice little mom & pop places. Around the south, it's what I look for when I'm on the road and don't want fast food.
I agree with your point though.

to find the good places got a lot easier with my little garmin.

I just hit a few buttons and tell it what kind of food I want and it just takes me right to their doorstep.
