1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

    Hey Everyone,

I know that living in Michigan is not a good thing right now and it's not much better in the other 48, and finding small companies is even harder. I have been hauling heavy equipment and steel to recycling centers for the last 3 years and since the auto industries taken a big hit the requirements for the need of steel has hit bottom, last year steel was at $600 a net ton, now almost nothing. I have been laid off since June of 08, if anyone knows of any small companies or O/O that might need a driver please let me know. Alot of the companies that I have contacted want 1 year OTR experience due to all my driving been local they are not willing to give me chance. I still have to follow the same HOS, and Pre-trip and everything.

I also, have 8 years experience as heavy equipment operator, on excavator, skid steer, front loader, crane, any information would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying everything to avoid the mega companies and there refresher scams that have been going on in many states. I am willing to run local, regional, or OTR 48, don't mind being out for 2 to 3 weeks if needed. Driver 48' or 53' trailers, flat bed, low boy goose neck,

Any advise is greatly appreciated before I find myself in the situation that alot of American are in foreclosure and cars being repo'ed just want to be able to take care of my family and not lose everything that we have worked so hard for.

i believe there are companies out there that will take you on, but you have to find them.... take a nice sunday drive through the phone book, or through the internet... if you are willing to relocate, your options just got a little better.
