Should I run or sale my pete?

you can common sense it all you want. I've been pulling refer the better part of my career and I've recently gone back to it 6months ago thinking the same logic you are and I'm telling you I'm the one starving. I sit as much as I run and after watching the boards I can say that even if it is running it doesn't matter when it's paying $0.70 a mile. You know what a reefer trailer costs to buy? maintenace costs? there is a reason refridgerated historicly payed more.

 

I am truley sorry to hear that your in that kind of situation. I honestly wish you better than what you have.. I pull a dry van although I have seen some slow down I have not been PERSONALY effected as much as you have. I wish I had an answer for you and the rest of the drivers out there in simiular situations. I did hear that as of last month another 15,000 drivers were out of work. I pains me to see this happen to the industry I love and chose to work in.

 

good deal, id like to get a better truck, and i'll be getting a step or flat this week. I don't want to hi-jack the thread with a discussion of who's busy and who's not, butwe're getting pretty dang busy with flat freight. . .

 

Sorry to hear about your situation. I guess I assumed you were in a different position. Now is not the best of times to be trucking or selling a truck/trailer.
You are in a rough position and I can promies you that you will not get anywhere near what that truck is worth. Perhaps your local Pete dealer can help find a person who is local that may want to lease it from you?
Tough decisions ahead for you.

 

I doubt you'll get $20k for it. DOn't mean to be the downer here but they aren't selling.

What you are seeing trucks listed for on truck paper is the asking price. They are not selling for those prices. I know people trying to sell trucks and it's just not happening.

you may find someone to sign a lease to buy it at least you'd have monthly money to pay the rent

 

A nice well maintained truck like this one is going to sell before some ragged out old company truck that has had 3 dozen drivers. I think the right person will come along and a deal will be made on this fine looking truck. I would never ever lease it unless the person who wants to lease it can go through a leasing co. If you carry the lease and the guy winds up not making it, the first thing he will skimp on is maintaining the truck. If that happens and you wind up taking it back, it will be trashed. If a leasing co agrees to carry it, you get paid up front and are done with it and if the truck goes back, it goes to the leasing co and becomes their problem. The person to buy this truck is someone with steady work and is upgrading from a "starter" type of truck. Those guys are out there, you just need to find them. I wouldn't rule out trying an ebay listing once you get it home and can get some more pictures and a good discription of what it has and whats been done. You can put a reserve and it if does not sell, I think you are only out $50 or so for the listing. I have sold 2 of my old trucks very successfully on eBay. You might wind up splitting the truck and trailer up to get them sold.

 

Did she ever get back to anyone about the miles on this Pete? The site won't let me PM her. I am getting my ducks in a row now to purchase a truck. I might even go so far as to trade my Vette for one. She doesn't sound like she'll be wanting to park it in her driveway and she can't drive it. I'm in a lease truck now and it's expensive.
