I would agree with most of the statements from above, image is important to me. i don't get to shower everyday like I would like. i do shave, with a electric razor, but as stated above not everyone can do this without breaking out. I use wipes to freshing up from time to time. I would also agree that eating right is part of the reason the truckers you see are tired, just look at the food they serve in the truck stops. Most truckers are pushing themself to make a buck times are hard. The money we were use to isn't there unless you push yourself. The hours of service rule should not be an excuse. The money we are paid and the rules that don't apply to the shippers should be the excuse. Shippers should be forced to pay a decent wage, and not put tight time lines for deliveries. Do you think most of us would like to live like this. We would like to drive in non stressed out enviroments, be home with our love ones, and eat healthy.

Yeah Red Fox, I too would like to get back out there, running local now, but actually i got more sleep running the road then i do now, been driving since 1975. If i could find a decent company with good benefits and run me anywhere west of the pa line i would probably grab it, GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

I am a female driver that hauls flat freight. These types of loads quite often have to be tarped. When I am done tarping whether it be in hot weather or cold quite often I reek and am filthy, do not have time to stop for a shower in order to satisfy a set delivery schedule. I will wash up in the restroom (not quite bathing in the sink) with women who are not drivers standing with their noses in the air observing me.

This is my job, I enjoy my job and could care less whether the observers draw their next breath. After all, these are the same people, and I am sorry to say usually women, who make my life hell on the roads do to their stupidity. BUT, I share my public truckstop restroom with them a lot more gracefully than they share the roads with me.

Consider, the next truck driver that you do not like the appearance of may be the one who pulls you out of a crashed burning vehicle. That driver is the one that more than likely just delivered a critical load to a hospital or your child's school.

Speaking of, my dentist the other day had bad body ordor. So bad, in fact, that I mentioned it to his hygienist who agreed.

Theres a difference between a travel center and a truck stop. Travel centers cater to silly people riding around in minivans and SUVs with under-inflated tires. Truck stops cater to truckers. Just because it has truck parking doesnt make it a truckstop.
