Call me lucky??? I start orientation 4-20 outside Kansas City. I went to C1 Truck Driver Training in Strafford, Mo. Though I heard 90 percent of the students I hear, going to Swift come thought their academies.

To get into Swift, you have to be in an area where they need drivers. These are few and far between at the moment. The best bet is to apply online and contact the recruiter in your area. They are hiring some, but you've gotta be the cream of the crop.

i friend of mine is with swift now. after training ETC they told him "no solo's available" so he got stuck with another newbie. they have NOT been getting miles, last week 750 FOR A TEAM. they finally got a run yesterday from laredo to miami take it FWIW, he lives in south central Al. don't know if that has anything to do with it? just food for thought

Thanks rswinnerton... I made it this far. The only thing left is orientation and mentorship. I had the highest grade in the classroom portion of my training class. JV (Instructor in Millington) still owes me a golden swift ruler ha ha.

why would you have any alcohol period....if you are getting a DOT physical/drug screen?? School i went to, they tossed two guys in the class after mine, because it was reported they were drinking out of the back of their pick up truck. Now how stupid they were for drinking out of it, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FLIPPIN' HOTEL THEY WERE STAYING AT PAID BY THE COMPANY.

And also thought something else was kinda funny that the OP stated...."mastering your backing". I thought i was 'pretty good' at the school i attended, and having been a driver for less than a year, i still find myself overcorrecting when i chase my trailer.
