TWT in Channelview has home daily runs as well as a four day (2 out 2 back) run. I work out of NC but I stop over there once a week or so. Good people. Low stress.

Can you share a bit of what your transition from IT to trucking was like? Did you start OTR or something closer to home? How many years have you been in trucking and when did you feel like you had a handle on it and it was a good career move after all?
Thanks again! -
This company has local jobs and hires new cdl grads. Tanker is better though.
Lepton1 and MYSTYKRACER Thank this. -
Hello All,
I've just started studying for the CDL exam (DC), while saving up to take a quick 6 CDL week course at a community college. I would like to start off with tankers, but here in the DC area, most tanker driver jobs ask for 1-2years experience, how can I improve my chances to get a good paying first driver jobs if can't get into tankers? Thanks muchChinatown Thanks this. -
Never fear; with a 6 week community college school, you'll qualify for some good jobs.

dennisroc Thanks this. -
I would give a word to be careful to avoid Maryland if possible. At least east of Highland PA.
They are super picky in everything. That is probably where the Clean Harbors would do a good living with what they do. -
Since as an IT guy I'm assuming you don't have a background in construction or other physically demanding outdoor job.
If I'm correct, I would advise against flatbed and tell you to go for tanker, assuming again your background is good enough to get TWIC and HMMYSTYKRACER Thanks this. -

Thanks for the info...I know what TWIC but what is HM? I also wanted to add, I drive a cargo van 2x/ month for a local business for equipment/ supplies pickups & drop offs, would that help with getting on with a good trucking company? Thanks
