Being shafted is definately the routine. seems like they want you to sit all the time but never at home.

Usually you hear 'bad' stuff from a company from a guy whos been fired. Everybody doesnt like something about whoever they work for. If they are content or not, that is the main issue. Me? i dont really have a 'home' to go to. No wife or kids (that i know of..hahaha) and the last girlfriend i had, i told her i needed to do what i needed to do to earn a paycheck. She was older, and played games like a 20 year old.....not my thing. Too old to BS anymore.
So as long as i'm kept rolling, get to my folks house twice a month....it dont bother me....
Besides, someones opinion of another company is just that. an opinion......you have to make up your own mind.TxStoke Thanks this. -
Hometime right now depends on where you live, and what the freight is like going there in whatever part of the country your in at that time. Freight is lean, so I have seen it take longer to get a driver home. I unfortunely can say that freight out of my terminals area is poor at the moment, so you end up with additional time at home waiting for a load. There is no magic bullet right now in regards to hometime, its almost all dependent on freight levels and lanes where your sitting when you want to go home. We should see an increase in freight by June, just not sure how much. An increase is better then a decrease for this country and us, so lets just hope it steadily goes up after that!

Where is your home terminal? right now i sit in tennessee, and was just told 30 trucks are ahead of me based on PTAs.
My DM does good getting me home, but i told him that i dont ask for much time off, i take every load he sends my way, but said i must have memorial day weekend off. Spending $300 on tickets for the Indianapolis 500....i had better have it off. maybe it would help if i took him with me? LOL -
Me too ... mine currently states 8.4 mpg ... but to be honest I do drive back with empties -
I live in the Denver area and we have a terminal here, so I would assume we're on or around a pretty major shipping lane. Dunno about I-70, but I know 25 and 80 are heavily traveled.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knows how much Swift pays you while you are with your mentor portion of training. I have been reading all of the post here and it has really helped me out. I leave tonight to go to Memphis to start my training in the Academy. Also does anyone know who the figure what your home terminal is?
