So, lets say I want to buy this thing: https://www.machinerytrader.com/lis...mantled-machines/25142609/1971-pettibone-88el

It does not run, and not sure if the seller has a way to load it on the trailer. I think it weighs around 22,000 lbs. I'd need it moved from ZIP 28334 to 14094.

First off, as an idependent hauler, would you take this job knowing it can't be simply driven onto the trailer?

I'd de able to help unload it with my equipment.

In a ballpark figure, how much would this haul cost?

I have a bad feeling the shipping would cost more than the parts machine itself...

All loading/unloading time would be billed by the hour....

And maybe you’d be billed for a rotator wrecker to help drag to on the trailer

Yeah cat, we just did a tracked excavator and it was a big nightmare.

The consignee who contacted a broker (who knew nothing about HE moving) was glad my driver knew what he was doing and we didn't charge by the hour but by the job. It worked out for them.

I would recommend to the OP just getting a hold of someone through a company that does this a lot, like Landstar. AND yes the shipping will be more.

NOW if you get it running (which it may be easy to do), a hotshot truck with a 35 foot trailer may work out for you and do it cheaply.

No big deal, you should be able to contact anybody with a lowboy and get her done. If it is not too tall a landall would be even better, especially if there is not a piece of equipment there to push it up on a trailer.

    I am guessing at the dimensions, but it is about 18' L X 8' W x 10' H

I already have one, looking to get this one for a parts machine. I could get exact measurements from mine if it helps.

Bottom line is, the machine is for sale for $2000, if the shipping is more than say $1200-$1500 I'd probably have to walk away from this one, just too far away.

Ok, yeah, then that kind of settles it. Not worth the cost for a parts machine.

    Thanks.
