The Garmin and the Goodyear units are NOT out yet. Both will hit the streets in May/June.

We are testing both and comparing to the PC Miler units now. When I get done I will do a comparison chart to make things easier.

You are correct about those dates changing man! I met with Goodyear in January and got a first look at the unit. They said that it would hit the streets in March. Then they came here to us in March and said that it has been pushed to May. I would rather that they took their time and put out a good working version myself so if they felt the need to delay it then it's ok by us. So MAY is the latest on the Goodyear.

Now, the Garmin was just announced at the recent truck show in Kentucky and they said June for their unit. Hope that clears up the timing for ya.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm just itching to try the Goodyear out. Are you at liberty to give any initial impressions?:biggrin_25525:

The unit I played with last week did not yet have the final software release on it. So I am not at liberty to comment on the software yet.

However, I can say that the hardware was nice because it is "ruggedized." One problem with existing GPS from any company is that they are typically not "trucker-proof" as far as the strength of the buttons and the case. I am very impressed with the hardware device that the NCC/Goodyear has chosen because it has a hard rubber outer shell all the way around instead of your typical plastic. This thing looks like it could survive several trips onto the floor or the pavement. :biggrin_25525:

good, keep us up today, I have the pc*miller navigator 430 and the worldnav 7000.

I cant hear the speaker of the pcmiller but the driving directions are far more practical than the worldnav 7000, they have both sent me thru low bridges and both sent me thru local restricted roads:biggrin_25516:

so the pc*miller is getting return tomorrow and the worldnav is actually broken(usualble) the display does not come off night mode so is not bright enough so is going back to Sams club:biggrin_255:

so Im desperate waiting for the goodyear or the garmin, I just hope the get released soon:biggrin_25514:

The PCM 430 speaker is not loud enough, I agree. The only way to fix that is to plug a small external speaker cube to the headphone jack or connect a FM transmitter to that jack to play it through your stereo. (Either one of those can be found for around $20 if you look around)

If the routing on the PCM 430 took you on incorrect roads then it is likely that you have not correctly created a "Routing Profile" in Menu | Setting | Routing. If it says "Routing - Default" at the top of that page then you are not on a proper routing profile. If you bought the unit from us then you got a astrobrite paper in the box with how to create a proper profile and free phone support if still needed on top of that. When the routing profile is correct, this unit puts you on proper truck routes the VAST majority of the time. Also, there is a software update coming out in June with updated maps and fixes. So what I am saying is that at this time, it is unclear that the PCM may still turn out to be the winner of the upcoming battle. We won't know until we get the other two brands and "beat them up" for a while. :biggrin_25519:

As far as the WorlNav, we tested it and at this time have not graded it high enough to be useful as a trucking GPS unit.

Looks like the new Garmin is the one to beat. They own the general aviation, marine and automotive markets, seems logical that they will bring their expertise to the trucking sector as well..

thanks for the response, I had it set up from day one to 13'6" height and 53' long on the GPS.

one thing that I really got used to is the 7" display on the worldnav is there a PCM with 7" display? that will be nicer than the wordnav.
