Thats one stop I don't stop at. Unless in extremis. I think I stopped there twice in my lifetime.

I get down and look every single day. Its very easy to do and only takes a few seconds. While on the other side going over your tires looking for screws use a decent quality flashlight to look at the opposite side brake shoes for cracks, and at the seal for moisture.

Its basic truck inspection required by law.

So your truck and or trailer does not have dust covers either.
If I shine a flash light on mine I see steel, and I am pretty sure the law does not require me to remove it.

Any of them when I pulled a reefer.

I am sure it was an owner operator, but all of are sure not thieves either.
It isn't always OO's either. The truckstop at San Jon had a problem with drivers fueling up and stealing fuel some years back. The manager would chase them all the way to Santa Rosa at times, probably close to half the time it was small company drivers.
I remember one in particular, the company was out of Canada and they tried to get him to drop the charges, because their driver would no longer be able to run the US. lol
They even threatened to not fuel there anymore. lol

    x1Heavy and PE_T Thank this.

Get one of those cheap driveway alarms and mount the motion sensor above the fuel cap pointing down at the ground. Feel free to apply as many lumps to the forehead of the offender until they realize stealing fuel is wrong.

Wife woke up and heard something a few weeks ago. She looked out the upstairs window and saw someone had parked behind my service truck, he was getting a fuel can out of the back of it.
She went down and heard a door slam, but he was not where she could see him, but looking in the back of his pickup was my fuel can. She thought she should take a picture and came back in for her phone, when she went back out he was in the cab of her pickup. She walked up and ask what he thought he was doing and he yelled, went out the other side and hit his rig on the run, peeling out of there.
The law thought they might know who it was, but that is somewhat of a joke too, but 4 or 5 days later my neighbor showed up with the pickup on her roll back, he had been busted at another place. lol
My neighbor told me to remind my wife that when she came back in for the camera, she walked right past a gun. lol

I had a chronic shortage of miles per gallon in one of my cars 20 years ago. 26, 22, 25 etc Value should be 32 prior to oilchange at which it drops exactly to 28 when time.

Wife got the idea to put locking caps on it.

    BOOM. Back to 32 mpg.

What we think is someone had been getting it 2 gallons at a time in the night.

I bet it's not. Most likely consider it a wear item. Then charge you double for mentioning warranty.
