I will state up front I don't know if this is right or some trucker lore. I heard that the Tenn DOT lost a large lawsuit because of their scales near the I 40 I 75 split stayed backed up and somebody hit a stopped truck. Don't know. I heard this also happened in North Carolina at the Gaston/Mecklenburg County line on I 85. Again might be trucker lore, might have actually happened. However, you can almost guarantee if the trucks are stopped on the highway somebody will eventually hit a trucker.

i never stop at those scales in nc during rush hour. its already a fight to get down 85. if they want me they can fight to get me in the traffic, just like i fight to get threw it

I'm all for banning scales, but my congressman never returns my calls when I suggest it.
