8x2 is not good for that, tag axle dont carry as much as twin tire version, and thereby theoretical wheelbase is moved forward which reduce lifting capacity of whole truck.
there are 10t tag axles on market, but that is not as solid as real twin tire axle.
plus steerable axle is sensitive on damage, when you have so much weight hanging far behind truck lot of forces will be transfered trough tag axle.
my choice would be spring suspension for wrecker.
it is always better to have some weight underneath/in front of front bumper than behind cab if possible. some trucks have both.
that customer of mine have front leg and thereby not so easy to put balast there as well.

Or using cheap mineral oil for too long, that creates soot, and that blocks the oil lines.

The customer decides which kind of truck to use, the wrecker builder only adds the wrecker components.

 

Starts with A, and the dataplate says it was build in the Netherlands. I didn't know that the 8x4 trucks were coming from Netherlands rather than Brazil.
