HA.
JUNK.
I run that area so much I tell you right now at the point of the video starting full braking should have already been applied. Maybe he will stop. maybe not. Im leaning towards not.
Companies wont spend a dollar for the fancy systems and then get liquidated when the lawsuiting starts.
Robot trucks HA....Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Had 5 beers and 2 double Margaritas at an Mexican Restaurant earlier, driving on a suspended CDL license, and fled the scene.
Truck driver waives hearing in fatal DUI crash on I-83 -
I fully agree it's junk. I don't like the idea of the truck telling me how to drive or being able to slam on the brakes by itself. But it possibly could have prevented or at least mitigated this crash. Which is just one more piece of ammo for the anti-truck lobbyists that want mandatory 65mph governors, side impact guards, and crash avoidance systems. Everytime some fool who didn't belong on the road in the first place comes barreling into the back of a bunch of cars like a bowling ball going through pins, it simply reinforces the wide public perception that all truck drivers are a bunch of stupid, dangerous maniacs who don't know how to drive safely.

I see it as absolutely no excuse for a game of Truck Bowling.
I ran that section so freaking much, stomped my own brakes a time or two and never hit anyone. Middle fingers yes but hit no. Maybe I am angry such a waste of lives and injuries etc. One word Dummkoft...allniter Thanks this. -
How many laws were on the books that this guy clearly shattered? Drunk, driving on suspended license, fled the scene. So lets fast forward to the world that is being talked about with automated sonar brake systems, lane change warning devices and the like as the method to solve this problem.
Do you think the trucking company that hired this guy is going to maintain that mandated equipment? 30% of the trucks now put out of service are for simple things like brake linings and leaking wheel seals. Rare does an inspector even check to see if the ABS light operates according to spec, and that can be easily bypassed. How are they going to check to see if all of those complicated systems are operational and within spec?
I am glad I am out my way on the door, and I keep a close eye on big trucks while in my 4 wheeler, sometimes changing my route because I have inside knowledge of how this industry has deteriorated, and I advise all close friends to do the same. -
That's sickening. I couldn't live with myself if I did something like that.
x1Heavy and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
Bingo,,, however, we can choose not to go out on the roads, but our families still do. I too, advise everyone I know, when in a backup, especially at the back, keep some room and watch what's coming up. Someone else said, with this seemingly an everyday occurrence, can you imagine how the airline industry would react?allniter and Studebaker Hawk Thank this.

I have contemplated carefully end of life. But not for something so avoidable and preventable.
I would do anything not to hit that herd. Actually Ive done it a few times.
The previous poster talked about lack of support from drivers. I agree. There is a percentage who cannot be bothered.
And here I am going on and on about salary and other improvements. Maybe I take it away because these tired flipflops holding a drink just don't give a darn. why should anyone give a darn for them.allniter Thanks this.
