HI there Long time Lurker, finally decided to post up.
Ive been eyeing TMC for a while now, and finally went and enrolled in a Truck driving class. 3 days from my CDL wooooo...
Anyways ive already got my conditional offer from TMC,
Im wondering more about there Home time "gurantee" of home 46 of the 52 weeks a year. Can anybody put some truth to that.?
I talked to a driver here locally in IL and he was dedicated I-80 route driver, that was home everyday...nice jig got it right out of the shoot when starting with TMC and then a brand new truck after 1yr of service.
But Im probably going to go linehaul or whatever.
Just wanting to know about the homtime and maybe about some of the tranning, how long and what to expect.
Thanks in Advance!
Scott

I switched to Line Haul and they got me home pretty much every weekend unless I took a load to California or Florida. There were a few weekends that they couldn't find me a load passing through the house. You may count your weekends at home, but they do not. Their guarantee is not absolute, but they do a good job. -
Orientation is 12 days, then 5 weeks on the road with a trainer (assuming you have no experience). They, and your trainer, will try to get you home each weekend. Depends on where your trainer lives.
Once you're out on your own, they will try to get you home weekends, but that really depends on freight headed towards the house. In a normal economy it usually works. In this economy there may be weekends you won't make it home due to no loads going that way. It is getting better now than it was this past winter. There will be a few weekends during the year where you will be layed over at a terminal for truck maintenance, training, etc.
I'm glad I chose to go with TMC. Their equipment, training, support and benefits are first rate.Fratsit Thanks this. -
Thanks both for the replys! Anyone know anything about there Apprenticeship program. Im currently active duty Army adn get out here in 2 months. They said i can claim GI benifits for 1 year. Is that at a full time student rate ro part time? any info is greatly appreciated!

My trainer was out of the Peoria area and we got home every weekend. That might be more about making sure trainees get home every weekend than anything else but I think where you are in IL is a good spot to get home, a lot of loads run across the state on 74 and 80. Also some good news for trucking in IL, the state legislature passed a bill doing away with the split speed limit in IL, it's on the governors desk waiting for a signature right now. Ohio just did this effective July first so looks like the speed limit restrictions in some jurisdictions are going to be easing up.

ok so whats the verdict on milage or percentage pay?
finally getting out of the army and should be at orientation on the 27 of July ...
also im now going to be running out of IL im guessing that should be ok with me only located 1hr from chicago. and 15 mins from my house to I80-39-57 LMAO -
Occasionally, you may make more on mileage, but the overall average is with percentage. I was making several hundred more dollars per week while on percentage, even after my first year.SgtMac Thanks this. -
Same. I was averaging much higher on percentage as well.
