This is a first for me got a ticket for going 70 in a 70 mph zone. Was on 95N in suffolk = sucky county VA. Reason for the ticket is. Was hauling oversize & of course by the blanket permit 55 is max speed "which I knew". Ticket has no price on it to pay & the very un professional officer said I had to appear in court. So my question is who's a good lawyer up there? The cop also got the other truck that was running with me as well. I find it funny that he said he "clocked" us 72 in trucks that are governed at 68 & GPS verified 69 max speed. Going uphill mind ya grossing about 91K
Another "driving award"

And if you were going the speed limit as posted on your blanket permit (55MPH) you wouldn't be here asking this type question would you? How much longer does it take you to completely stop with 95,000 pounds than with 80,000 pounds? Answer: 27% more distance which increases the distance with the greater speed difference between 55 and 70. An 80,000 pound truck at 65 MPH takes longer that an American football field to stop and that assumes all 10 brakes are in proper adjustment. Wanna bet all 10 of yours were that way? And as RJONES stated to wit: "What are you smoking" going that fast? 15 MPH over the limit in most states and commonwealths is also considered as reckless/careless driving of which a judge and prosecutor has the right to convict you. That's probably why there is no amount on the citation. Are you prepared to have that on your MVR?
Oh, you couldn't have been cited for 70 in a 70. Look closely. You were cited for 70 in a 55. That smoke has really gone to your brain.

Boy aren't everyone smart & judgemental this morning. Dont need advice or the math on how long it takes to stop a a loaded truck. I'm not some noob. And after hauling 195k reguarly 92k is a "normal" load to me. Now to the matter at hand. Correct about the county..got the ticket back out & was in Stafford county. My point is how can I be clocked at 72 in a 68 mph truck going up hill.. Sounds like a revenue generator to me. And furthermore have never smoked any #### thing including cigs

Ohh and the remarks about if I was going 55 I wouldnt be asking this question. Hmm which is safer 55 in the granny lane with all the morons jumping in & out "good luck doing 55 & still keeping a safe distance with all that going on" or going with the flow in the middle lane??

First thing I'd do...Get proof that your truck will only run 68mph, then proof of HP. Depending on how big the hill was I'd go in and say it wasn't possible to for you to be running that fast up hill loaded with 91k. Don't know if it'd work but I'd try it...LOL
By the way, how many axles do you have? -

55 is safer while maintaining your safe distance. You should know that with all your stated experience.
And as your post states, ANOTHER DRIVING AWARD? Sounds like you may be very experienced in these matters. -
