I wore what was appropriate for the load. That's all there is to it.

    It was only 38below...

    It's called dressing for success.
I didn't reply cause I wasn't sure where or what the original question was getting at.
I wear shorts, sandals, and company logo'd shirt when the weather is appropriate, over 75° when you're cold blooded. I like to be comfortable, but try not to be a slob. We sacrifice enough being away all the time, why not at least look like you're enjoying yourself. This ain't no dress rehearsal boys, it's a one time show, so try and enjoy it.
Because I DFS, when it's time to work, it's hard hat (with sheepskin liner or sunshade as appropriate), glasses, hi-viz coveralls, ANSI boots, and a good pair of gloves...cause looking professional is part of being one.

Shorts and comfy wear is ok. Except flip flops. I wouldn’t even drive with flip flops in my car. You’re better off driving barefoot than using flip flops. When you find yourself in a sudden stop and flip flops jams under the brake pedal or you need to straighten the flip flops with your feet because it’s lopsiding eats up some precious seconds that can mean hit or miss. Had my grandfather tell me this when I was learning to drive some time ago.

    cke Thanks this.
