I've been laidoff from my straight truck job since JAN. So, believe me when I say I am READY to get back to work! Just kinda sucks cuz now the weathers going to be getting nice and i'm gonna want to be out fishing. Oh well, just my luck laid off all winter couped up inside with nothing to do then the weather breaks and ok back to work! Not that i'm complaining mind you. I musta gained 30 pounds this Winter, So like I said I am ready to get off my ### and back to work!!!
I really don't even have any questions that I havent already asked and had answered. I just thought I would start a new thread to share my school and training experiences. I would however like to thank those of you like spanky that have answered my questions over the past few months.
I gotta tell ya, surfin around this site can get down right depressing at times when you read about the lack of freight, drivers being treated like crap, this awful company and that horrible company and how bad the industry is as a whole! It is always a little refreshing to come to the Millis threads and read almost nothing but good things about the company. (sometimes I wonder if you guys arent just a bunch of recruiters lol)
Anyhow, these threads were a great help to me. Although, I didn't find this site until I was already accepted into MTI, so it had no bearing on my decision to go with them. But, what this site and you guys did do was help to confirm that I did in fact make a wise decision in going with Millis Transfer. (thus far anyway) That is why I would like to thank the truckers report and the staff for providing this valuable website and ask that you keep up the good work. Also once again thanks so much to all you Millis and future Millis drivers for all your help and answers to my questions.
Which brings me to my final thought. I will try and give a little something back to those of you who are now in the same place I was a few months ago. I will try and post here on a nightly basis as to how school is going and all that good stuff. I won't pretend to know the answers to all your questions, if I know the answer I'll answer it to the best of my knowledge. If not, then I will simply tell you I don't know. For anyone else that may be on here and in class with me please feel free to jump in at any time.
I wish you all a very happy Easter! Stay safe!
Until next time....

I called them today, and they said that they were only hiring drivers with exp. He didnt mention anything about schooling. Maybe, there is alreay enough students. I have not had any luck finding work. Well I have been on and off of the phone for 2 weeks with an FFE recriuter for AE, but I just hear everything looks good, but no offer as of yet. I fall in a crapy spot. CDL for 10 years, but no exp. since I got it. Good luck to you and congrats on the job.

Pricey, you'll probably need a refresher course. Hate to say it, but I would too. I have been off for 3 years now. But, I'm lucky as my boss also has a log trucking company and he would help IF I wanted too, which I don't though. Either way it is REAL bad for new drivers right now. I have gotten a LOT of e-mails with people literally begging for help. Problem is, no one can help right now, sigh. GL to all!

Thanks for the reply. I figured I would have better luck with a refresher. A local College is offering a 40 hour course, and I assume that will work. FFE said they want me but they have been draging their feet, and TMC said they would take me with a refresher. I guess beggers cant be choosers huh?

Well now, that is real interesting. All this time it's been just the opposite in that they were only taking on students, and not those with experience. I will have to ask them about that. Man that would suck to have the CDL for 10 years and no experience?!?!?
well thank you, and good luck to you as well! -
Good luck to you as well jstnew.
Junes not that far off any more and look at it this way, at least YOU can get in some good fishing before school starts! I will definately try to keep ya posted on a day to day basis. Being close to home will be a big plus. Millis actually called me this morning and I gotta tell ya when I saw it was them on the caller ID I became quite nervous. In fact perhaps even a little paranoid because I just knew they were calling to tell me class was canceled. However much to my delight they were just simply calling to confirm I was going to be there on Monday.
JstNew Thanks this. -
Good luck to all. and if I am able, I'll answere questions for you to.

Happy Easter everybody,
Went to church prayed for all the pedestrians in and around richfield that I don't run them over the next few weeks! Got the ham on the grill and just enjoying this time before school starts tomorrow. Getting pretty fired up to get the show on the road. Checked, double checked, and checked my list again I'm quite sure I have everything! Went to Pilot the other day and got my fuel card. Got my TA fuel card in the mail a few weeks ago. Also got a flying j fuel card but that was before I found out Millis doesn't go to flying j. Also got my road atlas, 29 bucks at flying j BTW. Voided check, Gloves, 400 bucks, not taking their insurance so don't need the kids info. Oh yeah, Poncho too. Well, time to baste the ham and get a fresh cold one so I will catch you on the flip flop I'm gone...
OH YEAH,
GO BREWERS!!!! -
first, good luck to you !
i was just wondering if millis is really worth the 2 years commitment ($20 for 100 week + 2500 if you live ahead of time ). plus the fact that their schools are not PTDI certified ...just in case they dump you in the middle of the process you still have to pay for the tuition!!!!
i know once you chose a company it because you are planing to stay with the fo a while, but things happen !!
i dont wanna discourage you ...just a point of view......
wish you luck
