I would say to go into the truckstop, walk down the toy ailse and buy one of the die cast trucks for sale. Most of them give you a trailer too!!! A lot less head aches!! LOL
Seriously though, If the miles are right on the KW I think for myself the Detroit with a 13 is a better combo. That's great miles on an 8 year old truck. Could be the guy was local or something. I know guys who haul gas and only do about 1000-1500 miles a week.
Which truck shoul i buy

The cat dealer here charges 300 something for dyno,it will tell you overall condition of engine,My opinion, the Detroit is a cheaper engine to repair than the cat.If it were me I'd find a loaded trailer and do a test drive before dropping any green.

Not say'n its not genuine, just saying I'd want to be sure. Out here we have 100kph speed limits so lots of owners and drivers do things that render the speed/distance measuring capabilities of the ECM inoperative or at least incorrect.

Had a 500 Detroit and a Super10 in a 96 W900. Had a 430 and 470 in previous trucks (cant tell much difference between the 430 and 470) and I didnt care much for them. But the 500 Detriot screamed. Literally. The turbo whistled so loud that I couldnt hear the engine. Beast of an engine and it got 7.5+ mpg on the cruise. Love that motor!
As far as the Pete goes, if you would have said C15, I would say that its decent. But a C12 is a lightweight engine. It will have to work harder to do what the C15 can do. The easier a motor can pull the better the truck performs, the better the truck performs, the more you will like it. -

that is an understatement

Thank you very much for all your answers, both trucks will be ready next week by Thursday, I have a better idea now than when I first posted on this website. I'll let you know which one I picked. The only reason I liked the cat is because they're giving me a 3 years CAT warranty on the engine so we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again -
I'd go for the KW.

Beware warranty on a rebuild, always read the fine print.
