It takes time to act prudently. To reACT as opposed to respond can be hazardous to one's happy.

 

It was absolutely a smart move.. 4 days in a 120 degree hot box will start to affect the mind and body.. I'm sure the pirates were fatigued and not as alert as they normally would be.. They can't sit there in a heightened state of alertness waiting for the attack they knew would come. I'm sure the SEALS just hung back until the pirates let their guard down....

Military commanders on the scene are far more qualified to make the call . Decisions have to be instantaneous without consultation back and forth from someone with no combat training or experience . Obama best leave battle decisions to the military commanders .

 

Ya know it could happen if Obama pisses off the military, they could turn against him.

 

I sure hope not..As much as I don't like Obama, his is still the Commander in Chief. Our military is sworn to follow his orders.. If they start making unilateral decisions on their own we'll end up being a third world country with a military junta..

 

The same could be said of any president. After all, they are not on scene.

But remember, the country holds the president responsible.

 

Look for the CO of Bainbirge that HAD a SET OF BALLS for one of 2 things to happen with Obamas new Touchy feely Diplomcy either he will be COURT MARTIAlED for DOING HIS DUTY or loose his COMMAND for DOING HIS DUTY of PROTECTING AN AMERICAN LIFE. With Obama if he would have let the Pirates take the Captian to Somila and then paid the ransom he would have been fast racked to Admrimal now he willnot get higher than what he has now in rank Commander.

 

I'd hate to be him. No matter how a president reacts, how fast or slow, he's wrong in half the country's eyes.
What is important now is what we set up after the fact. Let them know it won't be tolerated. And the policies of the high seas needs changing. Ships should be able to defend themselves. That garbage about taking on security personell in international waters and getting them off board before porting is ridiculous.

 

I once said all Barry Switzer had to do was keep his mouth shut and Jimmy Johnson well put together team would win another Super Bowl. Same thing here. After 8 years of how to deal with terroist all Obama had to do was let the Military do its thing. Good Job, after 16yrs we finally get some payback for the Black Hawk crew and Rangers.

 

Well i just read that they let the captain go and 3 of the pirates were slain.
