As some of you already know, I'm most likely going to be moving to IA to take a job driving a friend of mine's truck.

Anyone know firsthand or where I can find out on the web about transferring my CDL to IA from IN?

not sure about those states and how they interact with each other.
But when i moved from Utah where i had gotton my CDL, then moved to Nevada. All i had to do was go the local DMV, take the Nevada book test, hand over my Utah CDL, and they handed me my new Nevada CDL. Took all of 45 min.

I would think that you need to hand over in person your old CDL. So the new state can either send it back to the old state, or shredd it.

Same thing happened for me when I moved from Michigan to Ohio. Just went in and took the written tests, they took my Michigan license and issued me an Ohio one.

When I moved to IN it was the same way. Handed them my Illinois CDL, gave 'em a copy of my birth certificate, took the test and walked out $40 lighter. But I know that Illinois now requires you to take the road test as well.

I couldn't find anything on there relevent for new residents. I checked Iowa's DMV website and could only get transfer information for a normal operators license. The only thing CDL related on their site was the CDL Manual.

Scare you might have to call the DMV and be on hold for a couple hrs to find out.

Some of you other guys correct me if I'm wrong, but when transferring a CDL doesn't your HM endorsement have to be re-authorized???? I think I heard some where that it doesn't transfer with the new BS gooberment rules.
