The trailer makes the money not the tractor. So the more work you have to do on or in the trailer. The more it pays.

I found most of the "large paying freight" had a cost/ risk. Are you comfortable hauling missile guidance equipment for Honeywell,or Hazmat,or Percosettes/Oxycontins for McKesson ( like Heavy spoke of). Obviosly haulin Ramen Noodles or Dollar Tree isnt gonna pay nothing.Just saying

This concept right here. Do what nobody else wants, is qualified, has the equipment or insurance, permits, or knowledge to do and it’ll pay more. It’s actually very simple supply and demand. Less supply and options of people to do the job, equals more pay to get it done.

en jeneral, I see it like

    1. Stupid oversize (teams of 15 people moving 300 foot long reactors intact)

    2. Oversize (a couple spotters)

    3. Nuclear/medical/bombs/weird stuff

    4. Car hauler

    5. Reefer

    6. Bulk chemical

    7. Flatbed

    8. Dry van

But in free market, rates are all over the place, so you have refer and bulk drivers working for peanuts, then you have old timer dry van OO that pulls $3/mile 6 months a year then goes back to the beach house.

There's great and crap rates everywhere, it's all dependant on how much you think your skills and service are worth, determining at what rate/mile and employment circumstance you are satisfied with, at which point you settle there and start complaining about it...

    Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
  9. Trucking is keeping the left door closed, treat your customers with respect and look professional.
I dont care if your hauling some super secret load of missile crap.
Or hauling Bat guano( yes ive hauled it and if you dont know look it up)

This is a profession not a daycare, Do the job to the best of your ability and you will make a decent buck.
