I experienced this on my last trip. I bought a whole bunch of small fruit cups in a light sugar syrup (had apples in it). I at one every couple hours and the driving was easy! I didn't know what was going on. I ran out of energy drinks the day before and I found these fruit cups got me more wired than the energy drinks!??

Here is another tip i was told.....it kinda works. You pull off at a rest area, take a few minutes to walk around your truck, etc....but when you get back in...pull out your bag of clothes, and put on a fresh clean pair of socks. It is amazing what fresh socks will do for your subconcious.

Yeah you can take a 10 hour break while at the customer or down the road. Now if you feel after the 10 hour break you are tired then you have all rights to say I am to tired to drive the truck because that 10 hours I was down I didn't get any rest due to (blah blah blah) and they must allow you another break. I would suggest doing it via qualcom.

Drivers are allowed to say I feel to tired to drive I need to rest 5 hours and the company must allow you to stop. Now can they give you a service failure in some cases yes, but I would say if it doesn't happen often you would be ok in most cases. :biggrin_25525:

or you can get "marked" and you will get SH***Y runs and sit ALOT until you "come around" some companies understand you can't "flip the switch" and turn your body off.
    most however do not:biggrin_2552:

This attitude is why so many new hands struggle in the trucking business. YOU CANT act this way and expect results of a positive nature.

Personally I would fire you if you pulled such a stunt
    in one of my trucks.
I'm not saying everyones has to be a member of the "72 Hr Club" but by gaawd you better make good use of your "EXCESSIVE" 10 Hr Break.
If you come off "break" and cant run 450 miles without opening that left door you have serious issues coming in your future as a driver.

You DO NOT NEED to stop at a truck stop to "cool a tire"
yes even the "real"ladies know there are available provisions to accommodate the task without loosing 45 min of roll time by hitting the Pilot*

Yes there are times when even the best cant seem to shake the "nap" its up to the individual to learn what works for them when it comes to pushing thru the "wall"

Long before energy drinks it was coffee at the diner or 5 Bayer aspirin and a Coke.

Either way its a "must do" and not being a crybaby with a QalCom

I find that chewing gum does wonders. I can be really sleepy but as long
as I chew gum I'm wide awake.

So let me ask you Tater, would you rather have a driver who has a legitimate problem just "suck it up" and keep driving? Is it worth losing the truck and the load, and possibly killing someone?

I agree that a driver that "pulls that stuff" on a regular basis needs to have the tin can tied to his tail. But there are legitimate reasons that a person may need to stop for safety.
