I rode through some serious rain at times, but one memorable storm was between Dallas and FT worth. My wife and I got caught in a serious downpour, that just wouldn't go away. We had planned to soend a couple of days in fT worth and go to six flags and Billy Bobs. No rain gear at the time, I finally saw a sign for Cowtown Yamaha. I got off the freeway and stopped and bought rain gear, my boots were over flowing, and a salesman followed us around the store with a mop and bucket.
The rain finally slowed and we took off, looking for a motel. I stopped and was putting gas in when one of the winos sitting leaned on the building got up and came over. He said his buddies told him he better not bother me, but they needed 33 more cents to get a bottle of wine. lol
I told him if he knew where the motels were I would buy them a bottle of wine. he did and I did. lolCattleman84 Thanks this. -

I lost 3 windshields in a 2 yr period. At the beginning of the year Got another ding but had a chip repair kit and fixed it before it could crack . Autozone sale's the kit easy to use and 30 minutes to set .

I bought one of them kits, had it hanging here in the shop for several years and finally gave it away, never tried one out. A windshield has to be BAD for it to be mentioned in an inspection in Alaska, they know we break them regularly and let us slide for the most part.
I buy 8 or 10 at a time when they are on sale, so even the curved ones only cost me around 50 bucks. -
Wait to get by a big city and call to shop prices. I got cascadia done last yr, one side, was about $145, smaller shop in AZ. Guy came out too for $10 more. Safelite wanted like $265.

I Don't go through near as many on the haul road as I did when running the Alcan. I might go all year without having to change one, then get a spurt of two or three the next few months or less, you just never know.
On the haul road, if at all possible we slow to around 20 mph when we meet each other on any dirt or gravel, it is usually a tourist that gets them.
