My girlfriend went thru Werner's 300 Hour OTR training program. She started in Mid December and had to go thru 4 trainers and TONS of drama before she FINALLY soloed out in MID MARCH!!! First trainer had bad road rage... Not a huge deal, but not good for a new driver... 2nd trainer had a 5 gal. bucket that she would crap and pee in and not empty till she used it 4 or 5 times... 3rd Trainer was completely psycho and dangerous to be around... Plus never gave my girl the opportunity to drive her full 11 hours... 4th trainer FINALLY had a head on his shoulders and was able to complete and test her out... But after that happened, Werner told her she's going home on a bus because they "shut down" their otr program in Michigan... That was March 16th. She's still employed but obviously isn't receiving any pay... Employee, BEWARE!!! Werner is turning out to be worse that Swift or JB Hunt...

did she try to get on midwest regional or a dedicated run (if there are any in her area). Werner 48 states has been closed for awhile. (at least since november).
-
it's not so much that 48 state is closed, but rather they aren't hiring into that fleet. long haul isn't as profitable for them so they hire into the fleet they have room in. I had a student hire into 48 in mid january.
they are splitting up long runs between drivers of regions rather than give long hauls to one truck.
the game has changed. -
If you're from Michigan ask placement specifically about General Mills or Wal Mart dedicated (Wal Mart out of Auburn Indiana) Midwest regional has a freeze on michigan folks as well as TCU. Was able to pull a couple strings and get my last michigan student on the wal mart dedicated gig out of Auburn.
-
haha, you should pull some strings and get me on that account. i'm not far from there at all.
-
I called the account manager up there, They put a freeze on solos for the time being, was told they did have openings for trainers as of 4/24

Well, she's solo now, and has her truck, but only gets around 1200 mi. on average, a week. We know the economy sucks so she isn't complaining too much. I told her refrigerated is probably better miles so she might suffer it out her till she has a year and then go to knight refrigerated. I used to drive for them . They had the best trucks and miles I ever deallt with. Home time was the only issue...

i'm about 90 miles from there. think its worth a shot? i am a trainer too.
