Official cause was listed as pnuemonia but that was a result of being placed on a ventilator in a hospital .

 

We all quit when mom died at 55. Six years of battling cancer and then dies of asphyxiation, dehydration, inimmunity, starvation and a host of other things all at once. After you've stood there listening to the "death rattle" of a patient trying to get one last desperate lungful of air once every 45 seconds, held the "sugar tit" to the lips because she can't swallow any more, and felt the missing last breath...you begin to think.
It isn't some TV death where the patient just goes to sleep.
Now, if you're getting on a plane and the pilot says you have a 15% chance of making it to where you're going, are you going to stay on the plane? 85% of smokers die of cancer or a form of it from smoking.

 

And now the rest of the story........yes, the smoker may not be around to collect the Social security $ but his/her spouse is. So, no, in the end the smokers does not save society any $.

Wow, I can honestly say I have never heard one on the radio... but Im not usually out at the times they probably are.

Ah yes, but that brings us to another quandry: Are we supposed to live up to our expectations for our lives, or are we supposed to live up to the expections someone else has in mind for our lives?

 

The key words are " supposed to " . I'd say we are supposed to be intelligent enough to not do something that is likely to destroy our health and considerate enough not to cause our families grief . Do some people have dying of lung cancer a life's expectation ?

 

We all know that there are consequences that come with every choice we make in life. No matter what we choose, we have to be grown up enough to accept the consequences at the end of the road.
