Finally I got to see one of TallJoe’s most epic deleted rants! LOL
Dang it I should have screenshot it. He was PO’d mostly over that other thread about cheap rates and striped pants or something like that. I don’t understand what that means.Scooter Jones Thanks this. -
My trick is finding people who have never been in the industry and have no baggage or preconceived ideas on how things should be done. I turn them into trained killers and to do things the (company name) way. As we grow they grow and so does their paycheck. Makes for happy times for everyone.
I don’t care about education, in fact a college degree may even be frowned at. It’s about finding people with loads and loads of untapped potential that sometimes they don’t even know they have. Loyalty is everything to me. -
At one time we had 4 trucks. It really isn’t worth it in my opinion.
Right now I do stock market and a 1 truck operation. My plan though is to rent trailers. I know tons of owner operators that want to rent trailers and the resale value of trailers is also huge.
Brand new combo spread axle trailer is about $30k. Can rent them all day long for $6-800 a month here. Look on truckpaper and the same trailer is still worth close to $20k 10 years later almost. -
Ya not so much.... and as proof this just isn’t my opinion or experience, please refer to the following:

You are right. I shouldn't have said every one. I just assumed people would be smart enough to research the good ones. Here is 20 that have over 12% growth for the last FORTY years.

You are pulling data over a 40 year period! While I guess this meets your criteria of “long term”, this isn’t really remotely close to being an achievable return for anybody looking to make a living off of that return.

It's a mutual fund. It isn't about earnings to live on. Its about long term low risk growth so when you retire you arent standing in line at the soup kitchen relying on social unsecurity.
12.5% growth every year for forty freaking years! That might not get the wolfs on wallstreet excited but for us working class folks its thetl type of performance we can rely on.TallJoe Thanks this. -
Not to be mean but you need to go back and read what this post about......

I'm not going to argue with ya but, the OP is looking for $100,000 a year.
So if he bought 7 trucks and 7 trailer and put them on the road it would cost around a $1 mill. Would he make $100,000 a year clear after paying everything and everybody? Probably but maybe not and with how much risk?
He could also put that $1 mill to work in the market. Would he clear $100,000 a year? Maybe if he put as much effort in it as keeping 7 trucks rolling. How much risk? Seems it would be less than 7 trucks.
I know which one I would pick. How about you?spyder7723 Thanks this.
