That place has always been the armpit of the world when it comes to freight. The only thing that pays is produce which is only about 4 weeks a year. Never take a load there unless it pays for the deadhead out. Bad thing is the loads out of the surrounding states don't pay the best either. Goodluck and have felt ur pain.![]()

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
How is the economy treating you as a driver?

Although the consistant mileage of 4500 miles a week, BS! But i do run those type of miles here and there, don't worry about fuel times and such. I run cash. As for the speeds, doesn't matter what the average is, log books are just a game on who wins, like chess. Been audited and dot'd with never a problem. They might know they are falsified but to prove it would b too time consuming. Hell, people falsify their logs when they drive only 1500 miles too, honestlly think they log everything on duty when at shippers and receivers, fueling, etc? Whoops, forgot about the Qualcomm slaves out there.
-
you know,w/o going against what the ex DOT man typed because he made good points,i must add that you made a couple of good points as well.
I falsified my logs recently on a 1500 overall trip just because i needed to to make it legal on paper.I did not tun like some idiot nor did i have to falsify due to sitting or whatever.i forgot why i had to but i did.
I have not been a slave to a quallcom but once in my driving career and that was when they first came out.I just don't think that I will either unless it is some mandatory ruling and by then I hope to be completely out of trucking. -
Yeh they do use PC*Miler.
And it drives them insane when they run my numbers LOL.
I may log 400 miles in 11 hours one day. And 655 the next 11.
And BOTH pages are a complete lie.
I used my entire 14 yesterday, going just over 200 miles.
That page was legal...albeit I could have shown off duty for most of it. I elected not too. That's falsification too...what's the fine??? -
But you must still turn in the receipt and the carrier keep it for 7-years for the purpose of reporting IFTA tax credit miles and income taxes even if you are the carrier. How can you justify a fuel receipt and not show the line 4 time? Or did the receipt say Des Moines, Iowa and you showed fueling in Omaha? There's 2 ways. How many more do you need unless you get about 100 miles per gallon & don't need to fuel for 3-weeks at a time? -
Actually, it's much easier than you think to manipulate/falsify the log books and show the exact fuel times and locations. The new 14/11 made it a bit of a royal pain. But it can be done easily.
Without the use of EOBR.....
The only thing that can reduce falsification, is a set of time stamped bills, to go along with a time stamped fuel receipt. Even then, a savvy driver can falsify the log with ease if he has his fuel stops in order.
Never under estimate the mathematical skills of a truck driver.
PSanderson...this last comment is not directed at you. You have a job as do I.
But if safety was the real concern of the DOT. They would be standing side by side with drivers demanding that the per mile pay system be outlawed all together. Then require all company trucks to be governed at a reasonable speed...maybe 65 mph.
Or, a better system be put in place. One that resembles our friends from Australia, that have spoken with the NTSB regarding sleep studies. And how locking drivers into a set clock, is more dangerous than allowing them to rest when they feel they need it. It's based on the same amount of driving time within a 24 hour period. But allows the driver to take rest periods at will. Without being penalized.
Global warming and 10 hour breaks, are the 2 largest myths being spewed by "non" scientific people. I've met only a handful of drivers that could sleep 8 hours. Even less that could sleep much longer than that.
I know that research shows that teen girls need as much as 12 hours sometimes. But we're grown men, that have dealt with the same sleep patterns for many many years. Just passing a law, doesn't make my body start producing the hormones of a teenage girl. -
I have no problem with the set hours to work.
I operate on a daylight basis. I have never been able to sleep during the day.
I always wake up without an alarm clock around 5 am. It is the hour I have always gotten up before trucking. Most of the time I only sleep 4-5 hours. The rest of the time is a waste.
