Ok, this is a little weird. I pull into the fuel isles at the Pilot here in Palm Springs. This guy walks around to all the trash cans and is going through them taking out all the plastic bottles filled with urine. He then proceeds to empty out all the bottles into the drains by the fuel isles and squeezes the bottles until they are completely emptied. He then takes these bottles and places them in a separate bag. Is plastic that valuable is he that concerned with recycling that he so desperate?
Emptying pee bottles???

maybe not urine. did you smell / taste it ??
many liquids look like pee -
Does California have bottle deposit?
-
On the bottles itself, CA CRV
does not list unit price like the other states. of 5-10 cents. -
Probably varies by the container, Iowa was one of the first with a 5 cent deposit on all throw away pop or alcoholic beverage containers, people still throw them away but others pick them up. They don't cover tea, juice or dairy products.
The scrap value of plastic isn't as much as aluminum, but the deposit makes some people think its worth it; yucky way to raise pocket money, though.

I disagree, "scrap" is measured in pounds.
takes about 11-13 cans to make a pound of aluminum.
It's about the same. 11-13 bottles of plastic. itself is the amount of aluminum paid right now. assuming being paid 5 cents per bottle.
Easier to find plastic then "scrap"
How do i know. I make scrap yard runs everyday. to bad PA does not do deposits for plastic.

He might have been an Angel, the Bible says you never know when you might meet one. He could be you.

California CRV is quite valuable. My husband has even been known to pick up recyclables on his walks around the truck stops. But we aren't broke enough to mess with the urine filled ones.

Hm, now if he drank the contents I would be SERIOUSLY concerned, LMAO. I really don't know on this one...
HFC Thanks this. -
Whether he was or was not trying to collect money for recyclables, the fact that he was handling urine filled bottles without any gloves at all bare hands - yikes!
