I'm running Jaunty as a dual-boot with Vista -- overall, I'm happy with the improvements that have been made. Quite slick, and it seems like a better alternative to Windows with each release.

I still can't reliably tether my Blackberry, though, but since I need a 3rd party program for that anyways, I guess I'm on my own there. :biggrin_2553:

    Hi,

    • I was running 8.10 and upgraded to 9.04. So far, it is pretty good. I like it. It's better than paying for new versions of Windows or other software to run on a Windows machine. Just curious, are there any truckers that use Ubuntu, instead of Windows or Mac?

I used to, but then i got a new laptop with Vista Basic about 6 months ago. I prefer Ubuntu, but I just haven't had the time to install it. I'm not interested in running a dual boot system. If I go back to ubuntu, it will be the only OS I use. Trouble is, the new laptop is more suited for gaming than my old one was, so now I have a few windows games that I'd need a good week to get them all running under WINE. So I keep putting it off.

The Five Best, New Things In Ubuntu Linux 9.04

I just installed Ubuntu on my dell XPS notebook and I must say. This has to be the fastest O/S I have ever seen load. The only time I have seen microsoft install this fast, was in the factory and that was basically a image for testing purposes. For some reason I'm having issues with downloading the updates on ubuntu. They all fail and I know it's not the LAN connection. Any ideas anyone?

    rookietrucker,

I will do a little research on Ubuntu forums to see if anyone else has had problems getting updates. I took screenshots of my configuration, but couldn't attach the pictures. If you would like, I can email them to you through an alternate email address, unless you know of a way for me to attach them, or browse for them and upload them here.

    rookietrucker Thanks this.
