I left for the Sunshine State a bit earlier than planned. I liked out Thursday afternoon, cuz I couldn't sleep. Go figure. All went well until I went through the one and only till booth Illinois. It sounded like the kitty was tryin' to hack up a furball. I found a nice quiet spot and pulled the primary filter. It had I big ol snag of dead algae in it. Filled up a new one, screwed it on and away we went. All the way to Paducah, when I pulled into a wayside, because the ol Pete wasn't licensed as a boat. Twas rainin' a bit. It turned out to be a good move, as I later found out, that the wind tipped a big truck over on a bridge. Plugged up traffic for at least three hours. I got the Fort Myers this morning. Had bacon and eggs that I cried on the flatbed like a great big griddle. Dam its hot down here! Oh well, it's my girlfriends dad's 90th birthday this weekend. My gift to him was to show him the truck that I was sending him pictures of. Sometimes, some things are just worth the effort.
Happy birthday, Bob!SAR, pushbroom and spsauerland Thank this. -
Great, welcome to hell, oops I meant Florida, it's been a hot summer, but I wouldn't live any where else.

And that is why you call it home T800H. I like snow, so this is why I just come to visit your beautiful state. When I get my chores done, it's time to go fishing!

Well, it's been a while since anything has broken, but holding true to "if it's man-made, it will fail", I developed and faint, strange sound, that sounds like a tiny little turbo charger. I would here it at an idle and going down the road. It would last for just a few seconds and then not be heard for a few minutes, or up to an hour, or so.
What it turned ou to be was the fan clutch failing. When I completed an autopsy, the bearings were completely shot. A new kit from Kit Masters and all is well again!
I just wanted to toss this out there, in the event that anyone else might hear the same little noise.
Keep the shiny side up! -
Good information, I'm glad everything is working out for you. Good Luck.

The more things that break and I fix, the more I learn and it always good to know more about what makes this Peterbeast tick!

I took my big truck for a ride yesterday. The oil pressure went up to about 65# like it always does. When it warmed up, the oil pressure only goes to about 38# at an idle. If I speed up the rpms to 1000, it goes to 65#. I put a separate gauge by the oil pressure sending unit and it agrees with the dash gauge. What would cause this pressure change?

Warmer oil is flowing easier and thinner.
Then when throttle is pressed, the pump supplies a higher volume of oil to all the moving parts causing pressure to climb.
When cold, the pressure is alway high. Oil is thick.
My company ford with the 3406E is 25-30 psi at idle, 60-65 psi while driving.A5¢ Thanks this.
