I had that happen once or twice with my first Volvo. It was something with the main wireing harness. Mine would start again after I shut it down for a miniute, just it would at times die while driving down the interstate, and that sucked.

Hi all, been wprking on finding gainful employment. I checked around and so far the only companies I have found that only care about the last 10 years are Stevens and England. I had originally applied to Stevens and they wanted to schedule me in right away but I needed to get a copy of my birth cert. Then when I tried to contact them after that I could not get a response.
I filled out their on-line app again, so I will see how that goes. I'd really rather not go to England. I have also been sprucing up my resume for IT work. If I can't get something going soon, I'll fall back on waiting tables with an eye on going into management. I have a great restaraunt chain here in town I would love to work for, but they won't be hiring until June.
Central said they would reimburse the cost of a bus ticket even if you fly, but that is contingent on you finishing the course and getting hired.

Hi again Jess, glad you mentioned the payroll thing. I need to be educated on the how's, when's and what if's of him being on the road. Could you tell me how it works and what I should pay extra attention to detail on when he keeps track of his loads? I'm sure he knows of all that but I am keeping a log here as well for our own finances and budgeting since I am a newbie. I would really appreciate your advice on keeping the books. :biggrin_25514:

We use a notebook that JJ calls the Bible lol it has all his trip info and delivery and pick-up times, also the miles, how many stops and dates.

We copy all paperwork so if a trip pack gets lost we can say OK no problem we can fax you a copy!

Now Payroll!! Bob will have a sign in on the Central website which you can go to on Tuesdays and view his pay.

The drivers info page will show his trips how many miles and deductions.

If Bob pays for his Scale tickets after he upgrades then he needs to send them in and be reimbursed, same for Tolls that aren't covered.

Detention times you need to watch as well.

Wow, I got that I need to get him a Bible.....hehehe. I am better at being organized when it comes to copies, data entry and receipts, (he used to laugh at my OCD, now he'll thank me for it :biggrin_25525:) but what is "Detenton" and "Scale Tickets" ? I feel like I'm in school again, :biggrin_2554: any other suggestions to help me help him? Thank you so much for all your patience.

When he picks up a load he will need to take it to the closest truck stop and get a scale ticket (Weigh the load) I think there around $9.00 now, he can get a com check or just pay cash and get reimbursed or use his comdata card.
Other ways you can help is to mapquest for him, a lot of new drivers forget to factor in there dead head miles to pick up a load and don't factor that into there time.

Detention pay: say your appointment is at 15:00 and your still sitting there at 22:00, you would be eligible for detention pay, I'm not sure how much it is an hour for company drivers, NTW might be able to answer that.
