In all my experiences with an Orientation, CRE BEAT THEM ALL!
From day one you are on the run from dawn to dusk. THey don't do any research prior to Orientation, so you can be canned at any time for anything. The only drivers that remain unaffected are the "real students", while the experienced drivers are weeded out for one reason or another. The "RS" ( experienced driver retraining) are also weeded out heavily in the first 7 days. I never knew who would be in Orientation from one day to the next. Over the weekend it is a gruelling grind standing outside most of the day working on backing. You back till your left foot is in agony. They charge $500 to go through this and then 4 weeks with a trainer and 2 weeks with a lease operator.
12 of us were standing in the "RS" group a week after we started, and we still weren't sure who was hired until they actually placed us with trainers. If you don't measure up then you get a ride home on the bus as either hired, but need to fix a few things, or let go for this that or the other. One driver was let go for a 10 year old reckless driving conviction.
I got sent home to fix my driving record, but was unable to and after fighting it for a month, ( and finding that Unisys is wrong (Unisys wrong? HA!) finally I thought it was straightened out, my recruiter never bothered to even call me, just left me hangin all the time. My original recruiter was awesome. But unless you absolutely know you are perfect, don't get on the bus. I guarantee it you will find yourself on the return trip!
Also, the wait for a truck (Company and O/O) is well over 3 weeks at the time I left. So you may not see the house for at least a total of 3 months after you get on the bus and then hope you are hired. If you go home to wait for a truck you get dumped to the bottom of the pile. They pay $50 day for company drivers sitting and waiting,. but if you decide to lease, you will not get a cent while you wait.
Pearls of wisdom!
