My point is that to fire someone because they want or mention OSHA is the reason OSHA came to be in the first place.
Many companies will do anything to save a buck and the cost will be to the employee as an injury or health or death.

Get this about 10 years ago i was running a forklift at lumber yard and a driver pulled in the yard in a 53' van rolled the window down and gave me his bill of layding. so i sit there and waited for him to get out and ogen his doors on his trailer, sit there for about 15 mins and he never got out. I went up and asked if he was going to open his doors were i could unload him. He told me that he was a 100% no touch driver. I told him he did not have to touch the load but he had to at least open the doors. He said no so i refussed the load and he to take it back.PISSED HIM OFF. Morol of the story is use your head GET off your lazy ### and open doors. It want hurt you to get your hands a little dirty. Hell i am a o/o i get my hands dirty every day, I carry a huff of tools with me to overhaul my engine, and change a tire.
Kabar and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
Man,i hope OSHA don't come down on me for changing my hub seal caps here at the TA without my approved rubber gloves,,i got some synthetic oil on my fingertips and used a non-approved rag to wipe them off,,,,I'm i deep trouble now--i can feel it!
Working Class Patriot and Scarecrow03 Thank this. -
Besides,if i want it done right-i do it myself. Too many times i've paid some yahoo to "fix" something and ends up costing more!

One of the contractors I worked for posted all the job injuries on a bulletin board. One guy had to take off for a week because he was stung by a bee....
Now I know what you all are thinking...the guy wasn't allergic...he took the time off and filed a workman's' comp claim.
Let me tell you all a little secret...Companies have this little thing called a MOD Rate..... which is a record of accidents and claims. If a company's MOD Rate is high say around .95, that affects their ability to bid competitively. A comapny with a MOD Rate of .60 will usually get the bid over a company with even a .75...the Insurance companies and the customers know that the companies with the lower MOD Rates are better "Risks"...
So go ahead and cry to OSHA even for a hang-nail.....Don't complain though when your company has to lay some people off....Red Fox Thanks this. -
I bet you are a dream to work for.
No one has ever quit. OSHA can't say the same.
Actually, I just don't hire people that spew Marxist language. -
I carry a huff of tools with me to overhaul my engine, and change a tire.
How do you change a tire on the road? -
You can put any spin to anything. I am talking about realistic scenarios. -
This is not what you claimed before.
Employee safety issues are not marxist.
