About three years ago the Carnesville, GA Flying J told me that ALL Flying J's were going to be removing their buffet. I asked about this situation at other Flying J's and was looked at strangely and told that "No, certain markets were told to remove their buffets but it will not be extended to ALL Flying J's in the USA".
Which do you all prefer, when you chose to or have to eat inside ... the Flying J or the Petro restuarant?
Would you all like to see if certain Golden Corrals, Old Country Buffets, Ryans, Fire Mountain or Denny's could expand truck parking in case truck stop's restuarants "go belly up"? Pardon the pun.
Flying J Restaurants will no longer be open 24 hours.

So...
Your gal takes one look at the glop the Hook is serving, and immediately dumps you for the first Swift driver passin' by! -
I haven't had any problems with the food at the fishhook other than the one down in Shreveport. Of course I don't eat buffet, only eat food ordered from the menu. I also stick to the dishes I know are usually good ( meat lovers pasta). All of the J's I have ate at within the last month the pasta has been fine, with the exception of Shreveport which had a burnt taste. I told the waitress about it and when the manager came out I was offered a half off price, so I really can't even complain about that much. As far as the J's that are closing the diner at night you can add Ogden, UT to the list I-15 ext 343 I think it is.

Oops, that's ...
they don't bring out the buffet food to the steam tables until just before 7 AM ... not 7 PM as I had listed above for the Flying J restuarant in Clear Brook, Virginia. Sorry about that ! -
HAHAHA,
I wonder how much the J paid to have that story written and published. The last place i'm taking a date to dinner at is a Flying J.
I have been in alot of crappy j's around the country, and the food has been less than steller. But on the other hand they have been trying to improve the menu. I see about every 2-3 months they are offering new items. -
Some of the TA's restrauants started doing that a year or so ago, but those that did were'nt in or near major cities .

It's been my experience that the best J restaurants are those that are frequented a lot by the locals. If Jed and the folks are coming down to eat regularly, they go out of their way to make it more fresh, clean, and better all around. But if it's "just" mainly truckers, they tend to slack off.
If they close at night that's alright with me.
