The longnose Pete's are in the back by the shop, they hide them now because someone whom formerly worked there stole 3 of them off the lot and a couple trailers too before they noticed. Which is why they now ban all non employees from the lot.

How do they owe you 1500? The new trucks are a brat to get; they kept telling us they had no trucks to assign despite the like 300 brand new shiny Pete's without drivers. Said something about that being their pete inventory for the entire year and that they only release so many a month. Eh, don't care still got the 379 my hubby wanted. I wanted a W900.

Anything from an unscheduled oil change, to changing a lugnut takes 5 days in the Dallas terminal... hence why I avoid it like the plague. Our first pete had a clogged fuel filter, we left it there 5 days, they didnt even fix it. Two days later and 1000 miles away same problem going up hill truck barely pulled, took it to Peterbilt dealer, clogged filter. They never even changed it. Five days for them to say nothing wrong lmao. But thats trucking companies really, terminals are bad mmkay.

The first reassign we got was a Classic, which we begged to not be assigned. But didn't have to worry as the truck was missing lol. They couldn't find it. Our second truck came predented, it was newer, but the previous driver hit something and screwed up the front driverside quarter panel, and the truck hood wouldn't shut. Took 2 days to get it fixed. Actually it would have been longer except my dispatcher called and got the ball rolling.

My dispatcher on Team Werner is Don, there is another guy greg or something like that. Then there is nick from night shift, greg from weekend shift, and ryan from weekend/night shift. Don's a crackhead but he's pretty cool. We hated him very much at first he was always riding our butts. But he's got a good sense of humor and once we got to realize he was actually trying to do us a favor with all his buttriding... man that sounds wrong.

He was very hard to get along with at first but we are cool now. When we have crappy weeks like last week where we as a team ran 1541 miles he got us some extra bonus funds to cover our bills. And he has a good sense of humer/sarcasm. Can't ask for more.

Here's a recent convo we had:

Me: You're slipping Don, geezus took you an hour to see we were sitting idle (he comes in at 5)
Don: You shoulda sent in Macro 28
Me: We sent MT notice & Macro 28
Don: Wrong order. macro 28 then MT
Me: Still... it was a drop (which in truck lingo means we just park unhook from the trailer, hook to another trailer, and go it takes like 10 minutes)... would it really take 6 hrs to drop a trailer?
Don: With you two, yes it could
Me: Haha I love you too.

Sorry about your bad expierence. I am not going to lie and say Werner has made us happy 100% of the time, but we take all things in stride. We aren't running good because no one is. We know when they are late to get us home that they cannot help it, they are pretty good about getting us home usually. And they are always very sorry when they cannot get us there on time. I have been peeved with Werner a few times, but they've always made it right.

Except with the dented truck... I want an undented truck... but Don promised me a brand new pete next time we are reassigned. Which is in 100k =(

Don is a MORON... That is, Don Fisher, right? He's a complete idiot regardless how long it takes to get along with him. He was our last dispatcher. He can't spell better than a strong 5th grader, making it difficult to read his comments when coupled with all the abbreviations we use, and his attitude sucks. He's been with Werner 18yrs... And NEVER been inside a big truck. At least as a driver. He has no idea what we do and that means he isn't as effective as he could be. I'm surprised you get along with him, but I see he does treat you better than he did us. And I know of 2 other teams who've gone through the same initial treatment. One says things are better, then worse, then better... So they're still not getting along well. The other is a trainer so his students are lucky they only put up with it for weeks. He can't stand Don and was very close to hitting him imo while at Omaha last month. I heard that from others, then he told me it was him they were talking about.

They owe me so much money because Don & company never did the filing for pay for Christmas or some 22days of layover with broken trucks. We're still owed the last trip altogether, and my bond fee... Bottom line, they haven't been doing what the law requires. We're to a point that if things go my way, Don and John will both be fired in the end.

Good thing you got the 379 instead of the W900... It's a pretty truck and all, but the 900 is way too small for teams. The Classic XL was my choice for teams. We did it in 2 Century's, 1 W900, 1 387 and the Century was best for storage. After leaving Werner, I got into a Pete 378 and like it.

We were sent to Dallas(from Lakeland, FL), but Don, in his infinite wisdom, 1st sent us to Chicago... In a truck he KNEW was red tagged! I told him myself, it could not be used for teaming because it lacked the restraint required by law... He told me nobody worries about that... Here's the deal with that... I do! There were other problems and it was tagged due to faulty door locks originally.

When we arrived in Dallas, it was because Don got yelled at by the terminal manager or someone up there, for not doing what he was told. He stayed mad at me from then on... And I hadn't said a word to anyone about his stupidity. Then he wouldn't pay for Sat & Sun and still hasn't, telling me he isn't responsible... BS, he is responsible. He dispatched us into that terminal and back out again... His deal. That said, the truck was to go there anyway, for the repairs it needed.

Don gave you extra funds? Maybe that's why he still owes me! I'm having trouble believing we're talking about the same Don... Maybe there's another... WITH that good sense of humor you mentioned. And, for that matter, with a working brain.

The week we left, I think we got about 5,500... Prior to that, and partly due to breakdowns, we didn't get 3,500 a week in 6 weeks time. We had only one week breaking 6000.

Nick and Andrew from nights/weekends... Those guys seem pretty decent to me. They also have sense of humor.

Then there's Michael Johnson on nights. He's a jerk over QC or phone, but readily says he's sorry in person and that he knows he shouldn't act that way. At least he's smart enough to know he's the way he is.

Why would you need to send a MAC 28, btw? Are you dedicated? I know what the 28 is for, but I never was asked to use it.

I'd send a 5, then a 26 if I didn't have a ld soon enough, which was pretty much always.

Before Don, there was David Ashby, who's an idiot, but not like Don. At least David would admit his attitude. He also got us consistent miles. The problem both these guys have is John Spessard<sp>... He's about as ineffective a manager as I've ever had to deal with. I've dealt with literally hundreds. He knows about the money issue and SAID he'd get it taken care of. To date, nothing! So soon I'll send notice that legal action will follow. And then I'll call an attorney because I just know they won't make good without filing some sort of action against them.

I hate John with a passion. I keep hoping someone drives a truck into his office. He's pretty rude to us, we called him back when we were still hating on Don, trying to get another FM and his first words were oh looks like you were on the low productivity list in October. Like dude, in OCT I was a friggen student!

Yup its Fischer. He's an arlight guy, I think 99% of his problem is his boss. Before Don I had Seth on Southwest Regional he was a ok guy too, though he was way more leinant then Don. You almost couldn't get a late load with him lol. He'd always remove the violation.

The 28 is required on all Proctor and Gamble loads, all their loads have an in and out time stamp the recievers and shippers fill out you have to send them after each stop/pickup/delivery because P&G is super duper anal about how long it takes the freight to get there and get unloaded. P&G loads are awesome because they are always preloaded pickups pretty much and if not they are always 15-30 minute loads, priority unloading at the destinations, and the destionations will have you unloaded within 2 hrs. We aren't dedicated though, but lately Werner's been relying on their big contracts like P&G, Sears, Office Max, and their limited Walmart contract for loads.

I won't lie to you there was a time I wanted to punch Don in the nose, in fact I did meet him face to face in Omaha once BUT I sorta saw from meeting him how stressed he is. I think Don's an alright dispatcher, course I don't have any other expierence, but he does not let us be late. He usually is on our butts like the moment he comes in if he doesn't see us moving, or we are still at shipper. I will say one thing if we run like he wants us to we get miles, we were on Team Werner for a while. Right now we are on regular team due to us being late on some loads, we won't be eligible for Team Werner again till John says so... so maybe never...

I took us off TW while running for David Ashby. He left us in Fontana for over 30hrs because I told him(via QC) I was getting pissed off about his late response time when we were MT. With that msg, I told him "no phone calls please" and he called me right away. I ignored the call and continued on QC when I asked to go into Fontana for a trlr, fuel and showers & laundry facilities. We'd been out 3wks and needed a break. He wouldn't assign a trlr at all, and we had to get one from a FEDEX along the way to our P/U, after waiting all that time. We pulled out and another driver stopped us to ask why we had no trlr. I told him and he said, "That's a LIE! I just got one and there are 4 more now!" I wasn't happy. As with Don, David constantly failed to pay us. It was under his dispatching that the Christmas pay was to be paid originally. Once I "fired" him, Don took over and both he and John agreed to be sure we got paid for that day.... Of course, we also noted unpaid mileage on basically each run we got under both.

John was a jerk when I called about the pay and sitting for so long. He told me, "We need to get something straight right now Rob... When my dispatchers tell you to call them, you WILL! Do you understand me on that?"

I was already pissed and instantly told him, "No John, I do not!" My phone is MY phone, not yours, not Davids, not another dispatchers, not Werners... MINE! If I don't want to call someone, I don't, period! When YOU or Werner provide me a phone, pay for the phone and pay the phone bill, I'll call upon request. Until then, piss off!... Do YOU understand ME?

He responded by telling me I'd better look into Team Werner rules in the handbook... I think it was page 18, but I can't remember. I flipped to it in the phone while listening to him rant... So then I said, "Well look what I see..." It says ALL communication will be done via QuallComm without exception... He was dumbfounded by his own mistake... But then, he ain't real bright. I heard John is worried about keeping his job... Well let's hope that isn't a concern much longer and he just gets canned.

I never met Don. My teammate did and I told her I wasn't going because I was afraid I'd get myself in trouble. She reported he was a tall, skinny, "old man" with glasses and I almost felt glad I hadn't confronted him myself. She told me it appeared he was afraid of HER, no less. Another team we know went to meet him and he wouldn't come to the window. The guy I heard might've hit him had to stand there and yell to get him to the window(while we were there).

Don has one other clear problem. When you're new to his board, he treats you as if you've never worked anywhere, for anyone, or ever driven a truck, let alone delivered a load. That's what first ticked me off on my very 1st conversation with him... I was "all new to this" and he would show me how to do everything... Heck, I know the Macros better than he does and have since day 2 with Werner. Another story, but I proved that too, in another short argument. Best of luck with him.

I just read something else bad about him and John Spessard.... And others... Werner in general... I started the thread, but there are others before mine under the Werner title. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/325/ripoff0325448.htm

Yeah I will readily admit Don was a total jerk when we first got moved to his board, we had that same I dont call you I QC you discussion. In fact, at one point we were at DALTX waiting on repairs and went home since we live in the area. They finished repairs at like 3 am and John was like "You're trucks been finsihed for 6 hours why aren't you avaliable?" Well duh dude, I checked at 2 am and it wasnt done and was like 23rd in line I did this little thing called sleeping butthead.

So he threatened to fire us, made us go to a certain safety dude whom used to be a dispatcher and thusly is one of his little buddies (skinny white guy pretty young acts like you'd expect a dispatcher too
) at DALTX and have a conference call where he basically told us he'd fire us if we gave him a reason. Real nice guy, really respects the drivers, not his rude behind, are why werner makes $ to pay him. They quit asking me to call them though, unless its an emergency.

Don's pretty old about 50 or 60 I'd guess. I don't know I guess if I was in his shoes having to deal with John all day I'd be pretty mean too.

RUMOR CONTROL: YOU DO NOT GET YOUR PICK OF THREE TRUCKS. YOU GET WHATEVER IS AVAILABLE AT THAT YARD AT THE TIME YOU ARE THERE.

Werner does run three different makes of trucks (PB, FL, and KW in Werner blue, royal blue, yellow, red, black and purple) however, you really don't get a "choice" persay. You get whatever is available at the time. When you go into the yard, there may only be one truck available, or there may be three or four from which you get to pick. You do not get to say, "I want a PB and a PB only" and get that. You get whatever is available.

My other half got his truck with 125K on it, and its now well over 300K and still running strong... the APU is another matter.........................

One of Mr. Fishers drivers did a big no-no earlier this week. The driver left a JIT load for Costco at an unsecured dock in my other half's yard that was suppose to be split out. And the driver didn't tell anyone about the trailer, and just dropped it in a door at a dedicated accounts docs (which wasn't Costco). Needless to say, several hours later, after it was noticed, the trailer had to be moved into the secured yard by a mule, which is suppose to be for that accounts trailers only. If a trailer for another account is stored there for swaps, then Werner has to pay that account a storage fee. It is not a Werner yard, it is a dedicated accounts yard. They own the lot, not Werner. Additionally, as soon as that trailer was taken to the secure yard, the next driver came in looking for it.

I also believe it is Mr. Fisher that tells all his drivers to take empties off the ramps at my other half's yard (well, its not a yard, its a dedicated accounts yard and warehouse, not a Werner yard).. which is a BIG NO NO, as they don't give out empties there. He needs to be told that dedicated yards ARE NOT to be used for his accounts empties.

I'm leased onto werner does that count? I'm a company driver for a guy that leases about 100 trucks to werner.

first the good, your young so I assume your bills aren't much. that will help because the guys that sign up for werner and expect to make what they advertise had better run team or be a trainer after 6 months. they do have frieght because they can under cut alot of competition

I'm still here after almost two years because I don't work directly for werner, if I did my exp w/ werner would have been over almost two years ago.

    1. don't expect alot of miles for a solo guy (especially for 48 OTR)
    2. your dispatcher may have as much experience as you do in the industry
    3. you will run a boat load of short runs mostly east of the missippi
    4. 300 hours of training as a student and as soon as you complete it you become a number in a large company
    5. once you finish you'll be sent home for an average of 30 days because they don't have a 'position' for you. (happened to my last two students)

I'm almost outta werner because they pulled my trainer status and .30 cpm doen't pay my bills. I'm just finalizing the details to go to my next company

they make a bundle off of student miles, do yourself a favor and don't try to figure what your making per mile, its too depressing

I've read alot of posts from werner people on here and I've totally said 'yep I've been there' when they talk about the frustration of dealing with this company. it is what it is do what I've done use them to get a foot in the door of the industry and don't lose any sleep when you bail out to another company.
