Currently retired, but my target cruise speed was always 65 mph, which would vary according to terrain, region, weather, wind direction, road surface condition, traffic, wildlife density, etc.
Sometimes I drove slower, sometimes a little faster if conditions were favourable and my economy wouldn't suffer, but no matter what the variables are I'm usually doing 65 mph on dry roads, in rain, in snow, on ice, in fog and I adjust my speed accordingly and drive within my limitations, which I know very, very well from being tested more times than I care to remember.
I found the best indicator of treacherous driving conditions is when they shut down the highway and tell you to park it.
Point is, use common sense, keep your F'n eyes open, pay attention to your surroundings, respect your surroundings, know your limits and don't exceed them!
Happy glasses will help, polarized yellow shades will brighten up a gloomy rainy/foggy day, make you all warm and tingly inside.
speeding when is dark and rainning
