I drove for TMC for 13 months. In january they told me to head to the Indy yard which I did. I was then informed that the "leases were up on the trucks, they had to get rid of people due to freight" and i whole bunch of bulls*it. In 1 day they terminated over 400 people, and each person had a different excuse as to why they were let go. The day I left there were trucks from the Indy terminal back to the Pilot off 465 exit 4 (same exit as their yard.)

By the way this looks to me it seems the company is going downhill due to them losing their major accounts (john deere, tamko, alcoa.) I live on the east coast and since I've been gone, I have only seen a handful of trucks this way and they are not as clean as they were required to be.

I don't think they lost any of those accounts. I started working there in January and just quit back in April and routinely pulled Alcoa and Tamco stuff. AFAIK they are still running the orientation school with plenty new drivers coming in. They were cleaning house of bad drivers , (not saying you were one) but also a lot of drivers were quitting when I quit because of sitting all the time and not making any money.

FYI my brother saw a thing on TV saying the trucking industry has too many trucking companies for the amount of work out there and need to shed some before things pick up.

I know for certain they didn't lose Tamco, Deere they gave up the Mexican border account but still have the US account, not sure on Alcoa for some reason I've never pulled a single Alcoa load. I have pulled tons of other steel though from IPSCO and others. I haven't been on much because there isn't much new to say, SSDD.

I had one of the Driver Recruiter/Trainer approach me Saturday night. He wanted to know if I was happy at my current job and if I was looking to make a change. He was happy to tell me he was taking home $400 a week pulling an RGN!!!! He told me I could make the same if i was willing to stay out two weeks at a time. Thanks but no thanks.

Most of you guys make me laugh. I hear the same people on the cb. I can tell you for a fact in the past week I've hauled Tamko twice and Alcoa once. The people that can't succeed at TMC I believe rather collect unemployement,or should just get a job at a truckstop because that's where they rather be not in a truck.

There must be a misunderstanding somewheres. Noone climbs into a truck for $400 a week.

..unless you're a trainee, but u sure can't live on $400 a week if u have a family to support.. I just read on another thread about Covenant reducing the mileage pay 1cent unless you've been driving with them for 10 years; they've also reduced some of their benefits & bonus pay.. so for these marginal companies to survive the driver is gonna have to make even bigger sacrifices.. so what else is new!

After he told me he was taking home $400 a week I asked him if that was correct. He repeated it. He kept pointing out how shiny and fancy their trucks were, Which they are. A chromed out Pete doesnt impress me anymore. I drive a 2006 Freightliner with a 58" midroof sleeper and all steel wheels, and I am happy. To each their own.
