I was gonna say. I run a Mack with tge MP8 (similar to the D13) and mine stays at 243-244 no matter what I do or what the weather is. I was a bit concerned but perhaps this is the norm based on your experience with the same engine (basically)

Does your oil pressure drop when it heats up like that? I have x15 Cummins first time owning a Cummins when I hit those temps 230 to 240 oil pressure will drop to 34 to 36 range at 220 oil temp oil pressure at 39 is this normal?

Yes the oil pressure does drop as hot oil is thinner.

When I was learning how to drive, my trainer (dad) looked the oil temp gauge and said "what the he@# are you doing? You're in the wrong gear!" So I put it back in 4th direct and eased out of it. Oil temp came right down.

Yea and these cummins pull the oil temp from before the oil cooler instead of the oil pan like on the old school engines so thats another reason they run such high oil temps compared to what your dad is probably used to seeing.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

This was 35 years ago. Dad isn't around to see them today.
