U.S. Express, Schnieder, Werner, JB Hunt, TMC, these are just some companies that hire and train new drivers. you would have to check here on these boards, look under the "report a bad trucking comapny" link for any positive/negative remarks for each company. some drivers will hate one company, while others will praise............

Well, as an experienced driver, I made the mistake of going to their orientation, only to find out that not only the company was not for me, but the recruiter misrepresented the facts. I left orientation declining the OTR position I was there for.

From what I had observed, they do have some good trainers. It takes anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks before you are released and assigned your own truck.

You need to realize that it takes much more than a good trainer to make a decent company to drive for.

I spoke to alot of the drivers there, it was pretty much the same...problems getting 2500 miles a week, a lot of NE running. Their saying was south to Chicago and hang a left.

The company also expects you to lay out a fair amount of cash each week for tolls, etc. I don't think that any employee should have to lay out large amounts of cash that any company needs in order to operate, then have to wait about two weeks for reimbursement.

The driver I rode with to orientation with, told me that when he runs alot of northern Jersey and NYC, he lays out almost 300 a week in tolls.

I also discovered that if your receipts do not line up with you log book, you eat the expense.

There were other issues about WH that I didn't care for, but as with any occupation or employer you will have these.

If there is no hurry to find work, do some more searching and explore your options. I wouldn't just consider the training that any company has available, consider what is down the road and around the corner as well.

    Good luck with everything.
