I'm a 4 wheeler and recently purchased a CB. I stopped at a rest area/truck stop to listen in for a while to test it out. Most of the talk was good, clean and informative. However, I also heard reprehensible exhibitions of behavior amongst truckers which included racist statements , truckers treating a fellow woman trucker with the most abusive language imaginable. I came to the conclusion that a woman needs to have extra thick skin to make it in the industry.
terrible behavior exhibited on CB

I've heard it go both ways for women. Oftentimes when they find out they're all apologetic and let whatever it was slide. Either way they are treated differently.
The racist stuff is apalling though. I think everyone could be better about it, but the raw hate that comes through I just can't relate to.GAPrincess and johnday Thank this. -
The only reason they talk crap is because they can and do not have to be accountable for it. Good thing , there would be alot of fights at truck stops I am sure.
Pretty disgusting sometimes.
I bet some of these people were the bullies on the playground. lol
Showing their true IQ levels as well, not much ability for abstract thought.GAPrincess Thanks this. -
CB Rambo's, hooter shots, radio checks, bear reports, "company" (yes...you know what I mean), and every once in while some decent conversation to pass the miles...
Thats about all a CB is good for...Truckers can be a bitter bunch (both men and women), thick skin is a required trait no matter if you're male or female. -
I hear some crude talk but here's the thing: my cb has an off switch.
As for anyone talking ugly to me, it just hasn't happened. Everyone has been really nice to me. Even driving in the rain down the stupid mountains at midnight the other night in all the curves with road construction when I was going SLOW.........the drivers stuck behind me were absolutely sweet and encouraging when I flat out told them "I'm sorry I"m so slow, I'm new at this and it's freaking me out."
Noone said a thing mean, they were encouraging.
Actually the cb is pretty quiet a lot of the time.GAPrincess and MilkMan Thank this. -
Welcome to the human race, sorry bunch ain't we

The Big Book says whats in the heart comes out the mouth,so before taking a judgmental position take a personal inventory before attempting
to tread upon the water.
As already advised, turn the little switch all the way to the left

I agree. I think most all truckers are really helpful and considerate of other truckers and will offer to help out if needed.
My husband last month was delivering in the middle of Dallas on a Friday afternoon on a 4 lane street trying to back into a receivers dock which was a little company with hardly any room for a truck to back into.
My husand was having a hard time and cars were flying by and would not stop imagine that...anyway my husband pulled into a car wash across the street from the company trying to get a chance to back in when a man pulled into the car wash on his day off in his own vehicle and said " let me help you out I know what you are trying to do and this company is a pain. The man walked into the street and stopped all 4 lanes of traffic so my husband could back in .
That was so great and my husband was so very greatful since the idiots at the company would not stop the traffic.
