    I have made a couple of post in this thread. I am glad the tombstone for them was not needed.

    When you are an independent contractor you pay all of your own taxes, including what the employer would normally pay if you were a company driver. This can add up to quite a sticker shock at the end of the year, especially if they have not been paying quarterly estimated taxes as they are supposed to.

    I would be curious to see what the NET income on Virgil & Debi's 1040 will end up being.

    Just imagine that. Poor old Virgil was carrrying the load while Debi was relaxing. As long as they can make the lease payments, they can stay home all the time if they like.

    Hey all, i was with CRE back n 2k3 & 2k4 for 3 mons, ended up dedicated n Dallas but the DM & I there had different thoughts with HOS & watnot. I was never lease just Co., but would like to knw about just goin as Co. driver for the Co. again if tht would b ne different or not? Feedback will help. Wanting to get back out there, been wanting to for awhile just after reading all this makes me wonder but u guys r mainly talkin lease so lemme knw plzz & ty.

    :biggrin_2554: Hello there! Grandma Debe here! Just spoke to Grandma Debi! They (Virgil and Debi) are getting work with out a problem. They are delivering 1/2 today in a place called moundhouse Nevada so small it was not on the map or GPS Debi's says it is outside of Reno and it took forever to find it.

    Then, they will be going to deliver the other 1/2 in California by way of Donners pass. Debi says there was a chain law in effect earlier but it should be okay by the time they get there and guess what? Virgil is scheduled to drive today!

    She said to send you all her best and tell you she she thinking about starting her own Barricade company next time she wants to get off the truck.:biggrin_25526:

    She is looking forward to Spring! Me too!
