Hi im currently looking for the right OTR company for me. I've been local for 1 1/2 years and cannot find a new job locally so therefore im going to have to go OTR again. Can't even get on with Pizza Hut lol.
I have a list of companies that i'm looking into, and any info on them good or bad would be appreciated. Or just simply say which you would go to and say why.
    • USA Truck
    • Celadon
    • Shaffer
    • Schneider
    • Anderson Trucking-havent found any info on yet
    • McCain Transport- no info yet
    • Barr Nunn
    • deBoer
    • Tandem- never done flatbed but if pays right then maybe
    • LandSpan- is this strictly a team company???? because pay is good
    • Chizek
    • Evans
These are the top of my list. I need to go soon, running out of money so any info of which to go to or which to avoid would be great. Thanks in advance.:biggrin_2553:

I was going to say ATS also. I applied with them about a month ago and they told me they stopped hiring the morning I got approved. Told me to call back in May so maybe they are hiring again now. Dont hear a lot of bad about them and before I made that decision I sat down and had dinner with 2 of their drivers. What I took from that meal was they are a pretty decent company to work for. But like everyone else are hurting right now for freight.

Don't give up on local work . My son lives near Charlotte and went to work for a towing company . They have more work than they can handle picking up repos and hauling them back and forth from auctions .

It's hard not to give up at the moment, i've been unemployed for 3 months and slowly running out of money, now that the bank accounts down to 1000 it's time to look elsewhere. I've applied to I know of atlease 40-50 companies throughout NC and i've only had 1 interview which was with Sara Lee and they didn't hire me. I'm still going to apply locally but until they decide to hire me then it's gotta be over the road. I'd rather make the same 300 a week with Pizza Hut or McDonalds but they haven't even called yet. Thanks for the help guys.

Well I sent out an application to nearly all of these companies trying to get pre-approved. No calls so far except the one I didn't apply to, my old company JB Hunt. It seems they are stalking me because everytime I apply to a few companies they call me. They want me to go SE Regional which I know for a fact doesn't pay well but since im very close to running out of money, I might have to just take it if none of these other companies call by the end of this week.

Was just informed that ATS isn't hiring in the SE although their website says otherwise and they had a posting on jobsintrucks.com. What a jip

That's really strange... I used to work for JBH, and I just got a call from them recently asking if I wanted to come back. Wonder whats really going on over there?

JB use to call me all the time as well. I never worked or applied to them directly, so I really have no clue as to how they got my name or number. I always politely denied their offers until I got tired of the phone calls everyday.

The last phone call I got from them I told them that I may be interested in driving for them. I had just had a roll over the night before & I was deathly afraid that my boss was going to fire me... So I was willing to get another job lined up ASAP. The recruiter hung up on me & all the calls stopped!

    Back on subject though....

You can ask all the questions on which company is right for you. But out of all honestly... No one can give you that answer. The only way your going to find the right company is by driving. When you realize that you have been there 10 to 15 years then I would say that you found the right company.
