Will they hire recent cdl grads??? I take it they dont have a yard in chicago??

 

They have a yard in Gary, IN. As far as hiring a newbee...the last I knew SNI was only hiring expereinced drivers. But with the economy picking up this may have changed. I would just give them a call.

Hey all new here.

My wife and I started with SNI as team drivers. As was stated above first few months were great, then whatever it was that happened, and suddenly the miles were gone. I'd not trade what I learned at Schneider, they do train well. I liked everything about the company except the pay, thats the reason we went into trucking in the first place. We have always been a 1000-1200 mile a day team. We switched boards, DBL, even went eleite, nothing helped. 3000-4500 miles a week between the two of us. Seems its only if you get lucky, some teams we knew were 6500 a week. others were worse than us... we could never understand it. No service failures, no log voilation, our DBL was good. Only thing we can figure is we got to tier 3 so we made too much.
We liked everything about SNI, if they ever figure out a way, to either get more trip planners, or have TP and customer service talk with one another. We'd be back in a minute.
All companies are trying to save money, thats nothing new. SNI seems to be trying to save money by driving out the people that cost them the most. They love new people because they can pay them less. We miss SNI, especially the OC's free laundry, showers, always parking even at 0200. Wish they'd figure out new drivers dont cost you in wages, they cost you in fuel and damages. Guess they some sort of expert that says otherwise. Good company to get a start with, dont expect to stay. Soon as you start makng any good money- they pull the miles out from under you.

 

1,500 dollars a week is nothing to sniff at. In this economy many have slowed down.

I/Cs will pay for base plates/licenses in the future.
401k will most likely not be matched at the end of year.
Holiday time will not be paid, 1 week off for non-drivers non-paid

=like most trucking companies Schneider is having difficulty with the low unpredictable freight volume and freight rates.

Driver, you need to remember this is a business. When people complain about no more free Schneider approved shoes, a second shower towel, or free laundry use it makes me wonder. Teams will always be in demand and good teams are hard to find = don't sell yourself short.

 

I heard this too....called in and listened to Waynes message. Actually, while it's not a good thing, I personally didn't think it was as bad as the first round of action they took.
*base plates / licenses...not sure how much this is although I think its a lot...but doesn't affect the company drivers.
*401k match. Its just a match and you can still contribute and get something in there at least. They will most likely reinstate the match after they get back on track. Actually right now, Im not doing any retirement investing.
*holiday pay - for me its not much anyways so I hardly notice, lol.
*1 week non-paid 'furlough' for non-drivers.

 

Wait wait... whats this about no more free shoes or laundry...

 

When you fuel up at an Operating Center at the "full service" lane they fuel your truck, get your laundry, wash your truck, and get it serviced. You just hand over the keys. Fill your cooler with ice etc.

But beware: the dry cleaning in Dallas can mess things up.

 

The air can be manually dumped at that valve...just pull the rod out of the rubber cup that holds it.

I know...that can be a pain in the ###, but it will work if you're ever in a situation where you have to dump the bags.
