Just hit the road again after a three year local gig, and notice that the airwaves has seemed to quiet down alot. Guess im gonna have to breakdown and get me a sat. radio. I guess nobody has anything to talk about these days.

Its hit and miss out there. Everynow and then you can find some good ole boys to
have a conversation with and pass some time. What I have found is you get a
good conversation going and someone has to get in with some ########
comment. I don't mind people jumping in the convo but if you do bring something
    worthwhile to it.

When you tell them something they say "get off 19", well sorry you have to listen to us but no one was talking before.

I, like a lot of us "old farts" got tired of hearing the foul mouthed kids, on top of the HAM idiots causing problems.

Traded my boomer in for a hand held...just enough to get in contact with shippers and receivers.

Besides, when somebody says check out th:biggrin_25516:e babe in the convertable...they never say where or what direction...my heart can't handle the disappointments anymore!

Plenty of 'talk' here in middle GA, both on I-75, local highways, and some base stations.

Even heard a CB shop advertising from Homestead, Florida when my wife and I were out picking up a pizza.

Do you all think its necessary to have a CB if you are a truck driver? My husband is driving now and doesn't have one...I was just curious.

Well, it depends on his situation. For us, last week it came in handy when they close I80 crossing the Mississippi, due to a bad accident. Had we not had it on, we could have sat for hours, waiting to get re-routed around it. We saw a huge plume of black smoke and knew something was up, turned on the radio, and walla, truckers telling us, don't try to cross, exit 1 closed, take 280 around the quad cities, etc.

Thats what I was thinking also. He only runs 5 days a week but if we have what we would like we will begin going out together for weeks at a time. To me it would be very necessary....it is on my wish list:) Can you give me some advice about where to start as far as equipment? Is there a brand that is best? I know absolutley nothing about them. Thanks
